Electrical Estimator II - Commercial Construction Confidential Recruiting Search on behalf of ... An Established Commercial & Industrial Electrical Contractor $78,000 - $115,000 annually + profit-sharing opportunity Full-time, on-site / hybrid Central/Southern Front Range, Colorado This Is More Than a Takeoff Role You know how to estimate commercial electrical work accurately. You can read a complete set of construction documents, understand how the work will be built, catch scope gaps, develop competitive pricing, and produce a proposal a customer can trust. But you are looking for more than a steady stream of bids to price. You want to influence which opportunities the company pursues. You want to build relationships with general contractors and customers before a project reaches the bid board. You want the authority to improve estimating software, processes, templates, historical data, and follow-up. You want to help shape how a growing electrical contractor wins work in a changing industry. That is what this role offers. An established commercial and industrial electrical contractor with approximately 20 - 40 employees is seeking an Electrical Estimator II to own and develop its estimating function. You will serve as the company's sole full-time estimator, report directly to the CEO, and have meaningful input into bid decisions, company direction, and future growth. This is a confidential search. Additional company details will be shared with qualified candidates during the interview process. Why This Role Is Different Estimating here is not treated as a back-office function. You will be involved from the first opportunity through final handoff to operations. You will help decide which projects are worth pursuing, communicate directly with the people awarding the work, and make sure each proposal reflects both what the customer needs and what the field can successfully deliver. You will also have the opportunity to build an estimating process for the next generation of the company. Artificial intelligence, automation, digital takeoff tools, better cost data, and new ways of managing information are changing what a strong estimating function can accomplish. We are not looking for someone who is satisfied simply maintaining the current process. We want someone who is curious about what is possible and practical enough to turn useful ideas into reliable systems. You will have room to evaluate software, recommend tools, develop processes, define how the position operates, and help determine what the estimating function should become as the company grows. You'll Probably Enjoy This Role If… You enjoy the strategy and relationship work involved in winning a project, not only the takeoff. You want real ownership and the freedom to improve a function. You communicate early instead of allowing uncertainty to become a problem. You want your estimating knowledge to influence company decisions. You like working directly with company leadership, customers, project managers, and field personnel. You understand that the best estimate is accurate, competitive, buildable, and clearly communicated. You are interested in how the latest and best technology can improve estimating without replacing practical construction judgment. You have thought, "If this were my estimating department, here is what I would do differently." This may not be the right role for someone who just wants to receive a complete scope, price it independently, submit it, and immediately move to the next bid. The position requires customer communication, follow-up, process development, independent judgment, and ownership from the initial opportunity through operational handoff. What You'll Own Complete detailed digital takeoffs and develop accurate estimates for commercial and industrial electrical projects of varying size and complexity. Review drawings, specifications, addenda, RFIs, and contract documents to define the complete scope and identify risks, gaps, and constructability concerns. Develop labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and indirect-cost estimates using current and supportable information. Maintain accurate pricing through vendor quotes, supplier relationships, historical cost information, and database updates. Prepare clear proposals and scope letters that communicate assumptions, exclusions, options, and the company's value. Creating a comprehensive hand-off for the field and admin teams. Help Win the Right Work Winning work involves more than submitting the lowest number. Build professional relationships with general contractors, customers, owners, design partners, vendors, and other industry contacts. Help identify and prioritize the right opportunities, providing meaningful input into bid/no-bid decisions. Communicate throughout the pursuit by responding promptly, asking useful questions, clarifying scope, and identifying value-engineering opportunities. Participate in bid reviews, negotiations, interviews, and preconstruction conversations as a knowledgeable and trusted representative of the company. Track opportunities and follow up after submission so customers receive responsive service and every pursuit has a clear next step. Our goal is not simply to submit more bids. It is to pursue the right work, build trust, and make our proposal the easy one to understand and seriously consider. Build the Estimating Function You will be the company's sole full-time estimator initially, but you will not be expected to operate without input or support. Manage the estimating lifecycle from invitation through takeoff, pricing, proposal, negotiation, award, and handoff to operations. Evaluate estimating software, digital tools, templates, databases, and workflows, with the freedom to recommend better solutions. Explore responsible uses of artificial intelligence and automation that improve accuracy, consistency, visibility, or efficiency. Develop practical, repeatable processes for opportunity tracking, document control, proposal review, follow-up, historical data, and turnover. Work with the CEO, project managers, and field leadership to compare estimates with project results and continuously improve future pursuits. You will have the freedom to challenge existing practices, but improvements should be practical, measurable, and useful to the broader team. What Success Looks Like Estimates and proposals are complete, accurate, competitive, and clearly communicated. The company has a visible, organized bid pipeline and makes thoughtful decisions about which projects to pursue. Customers and general contractors receive responsive communication and consistent follow-up. Project managers and field leaders receive reliable handoffs and understand the scope, assumptions, risks, and opportunities behind each estimate. The company's estimating tools, data, and processes become more consistent and scalable as the business grows. Success will not be measured by bid volume alone. Estimate quality, profitable wins, customer relationships, sound judgment, operational alignment, and continuous improvement all matter.
