Full Job Description Position Core Profile:
The Associate Estimator is responsible for supporting the Project Manager/Estimator by preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring that pricing, proposals, and project delivery meet quality standards while optimizing profitability. This role involves conducting detailed take-offs, creating and managing project opportunities in software, generating purchase orders, tracking gross profit margins, and monitoring inventory to support project needs.

Strong capability in coordinating job estimates, interpreting work tickets, procuring materials and providing support to ensure that projects are completed within budget. ;
Financial Oversight:
Basic skills in monitoring the financial performance of work tickets to ensure profitability. Experience in understanding budgets and billing processes is a plus. ;
Communication and Collaboration:
Ability to maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, subcontractors, and customers. ;
Safety and Compliance:
Expertise in promoting and following workplace safety and environmental practices.
Accountabilities:

Project Estimation & Bidding:
Prepare estimates to support project planning, organization, and scheduling with detailed quantity take-offs; conduct pre-bid site visits as needed to assess project requirements. ;
Project Management Support:
Assist and support project planning and implementation, ensuring all phases align with scope, budget, and timeliness; define project scope, goals, deliverables, and task requirements. ;
Coordination & Resource Management:
Work with the Estimator to support coordination of staff, materials and subcontractors; track productivity and costs, recommending improvements to optimize labor, productivity, and cost efficiency; monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock is available to meet project needs and order accordingly to adjust inventory levels based on project timelines, backlog conditions, and lead time forecasts to ensure smooth project execution and avoid delays or shortages ;
Reporting:
Assist Estimator in presenting progress reports detailing project status, challenges, and solutions. ; Change Management - suggest and communicate potential changes to address challenges and meet project and infrastructure goals, improving the divisional performance. ; Project Evaluation - conduct post-project evaluations to assess results and drive continuous improvement. This list of responsibilities is not exhaustive; other duties may be assigned as business needs dictate.
Experience and Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

Education:
A bachelor's degree is preferred; a degree in horticulture or a related field is highly desirable. Alternatively, a combination of education and relevant experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered. ;
Industry Experience:
Preferred 1 to 3 years of experience in landscape, excavating and/or construction industries. ;
Team Collaboration:
Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment and collaborate with colleagues across different levels and departments to achieve common goals. ;
Multitasking and Prioritization:
Strong capability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously, demonstrating effective time management and organizational skills. ;
Technical Proficiency:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general PC applications, with the ability to utilize software tools for scheduling, reporting, and communication. Basic understanding and ability to read and interpret engineered drawings, utilizing data from those drawings to build estimates and take-offs. Knowledge of or experience in Aspire software a plus. ;
Organizational Skills:
Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail, capable of managing multiple priorities at any given time. ;
Communication Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively to team members and other stakeholders.
Working Conditions and Availability Disclosure:
; Flexibility and willingness to work non-standard business hours and days as needed is required. ; Indoor and outdoor conditions. Outdoor on minimal basis. ; Requires moderate physical activity performing activities of a productive and technical nature; rare, but could have exposure to outdoor weather conditions of extreme heat and extreme cold; potential exposure to loud noise; potential exposure to air pollution, allergens, dust, pollen, insects, and other potentially harmful naturally occurring hazards; potential exposure to moving mechanical parts and sharp objects ; This is a hybrid-remote position where employee can work from home, but must report to office in Streetsboro, OH as requested. Office reporting days will likely be a minimum of once per week. ; Company owned laptop will be issued to employee for work purposes only. ; Position may require site and/or bid run visits. If such visits are required, then RFS will provide a company owned vehicle for the specific trip to be returned upon completion or mileage will be reimbursed at company standard rate for miles driven on employee's personal vehicle.
