Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Estimator specializing in Fire Protection systems to join our innovative construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating costs, materials, and labor for fire protection projects across commercial construction sites. Your expertise will help ensure project budgets are precise, competitive, and aligned with client expectations. Your proactive approach and technical knowledge will drive project success from initial bid through completion. Duties Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications related to fire protection systems. Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and other construction management tools to prepare detailed project estimates. Develop accurate material cost estimates by analyzing blueprints and technical drawings to determine quantities and specifications. Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers through negotiation to secure competitive pricing on materials and services. Manage project budgets by tracking costs, controlling expenses, and adjusting estimates as project scope evolves. Prepare comprehensive bid proposals that include scope of work, pricing, schedules, and resource requirements. Coordinate with project management teams to ensure estimates align with project timelines, contracts, and overall construction goals. Conduct site visits to gather on-the-ground insights that influence cost estimation and project planning. Review construction contracts and manage change orders to maintain budget integrity throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure all estimating activities comply with safety standards, building codes, and industry regulations related to fire protection systems. Experience Proven experience in construction estimating for commercial projects with a focus on fire protection systems or related fields. Strong proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Xactimate, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word). Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications. Solid understanding of construction management software and project management principles within the construction industry. Excellent negotiation skills for sourcing materials and subcontractor services effectively. Hands-on experience managing projects as a construction estimator from initial bid through completion. Knowledge of material cost estimating, cost control techniques, and budgeting for fire protection or similar specialized systems. Construction site experience coupled with a thorough understanding of safety protocols and technical standards in fire protection installation.
