Job Description

Our client, a premier specialty contractor in New Orleans, is seeking an experienced Estimator for Underground Utilities to join their growing team. This role focuses on delivering critical infrastructure projects across both public and private sectors, with a heavy emphasis on water, sanitary sewer, storm water, and treatment plant systems. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in developing competitive, accurate bids for complex utility projects, specifically utilizing RFP, IDIQ, RFQ, and Unit Price procurement methods.
Key Responsibilities Comprehensive Estimating:
Develop full cost estimates and bid proposals for underground utilities and treatment plant systems.
Quantity Takeoffs:
Perform precise takeoffs from engineering drawings and technical specifications using software (Bluebeam, HeavyBid, etc.).
Cost Analysis:
Build and maintain databases for labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor pricing.
Procurement Management:
Manage multiple bid types, including unit-price, lump-sum, IDIQs, and alternate schedules.
Risk Assessment:
Review contract documents and addenda to identify potential risks and required clarifications.
Strategic Collaboration:
Work closely with Project Managers and Upper Management to validate constructability, schedules, and value engineering options.
Qualifications Experience:
5+ years of estimating experience, specifically in underground utilities and treatment plants.
Bid Expertise:
Demonstrated success with public and private bidding processes (RFP/IDIQ).
Technical Skills:
Proficient in construction means/methods and productivity rates for underground utilities.
Software:
Mastery of Bluebeam, HeavyBid, or similar estimating software, and Microsoft Office.
Detail-Oriented:
Ability to manage multiple tight deadlines simultaneously while maintaining high accuracy.
Education:
A degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is preferred, but equivalent field experience is highly valued. PrideStaff is an equal opportunity employer.
