Job Description
Rachel Contracting seeks an Estimator/Project Manager for residential development work. In this hybrid role, you'll prepare detailed estimates, lead bids, and manage projects from pre-construction through closeout on sitework, utilities, and related residential developments. You'll collaborate closely with field teams to plan sequences, track costs and schedules, and ensure quality and safety. This position offers hands-on site exposure, growth in heavy civil and environmental work, and the chance to contribute to complex, high-visibility projects in a supportive, team-oriented culture. Responsibilities Prepare detailed estimates for residential development and sitework projects Review plans, specifications, and geotechnical/environmental reports Develop scopes, quantities, and subcontractor/supplier solicitations Lead bid preparation, proposals, and value engineering options Plan and manage awarded projects from pre-construction through closeout Coordinate with field supervisors to sequence work, track progress, and control costs Monitor schedules, budgets, and changes; prepare cost and schedule reports Support safety planning and ensure adherence to company safety standards Build strong relationships with clients, design teams, and trade partners Maintain accurate project documentation and participate in project reviews Required Skills Construction estimating Project management Residential land development/sitework Reading plans and specifications Quantity takeoff (earthwork/utilities/concrete) Scheduling (Primavera, MS Project, or similar) Cost control and budget tracking Bid preparation and subcontractor management Construction software (Bluebeam, Civil/Quantities tools) Contract administration and change management
