Job Title:
Mechanical Estimator Job Description Actalent is seeking to hire a Mechanical Estimator who will create cost estimates for specific disciplines relating to large capital construction projects. The role involves providing business support to management, guidance to junior staff, and collaborating with the team on pricing and benchmarking research. The Estimator will also be responsible for maintaining project documents and files. Responsibilities Analyze blueprints and other documents to prepare detailed cost estimates. Perform accurate quantity takeoffs of available design documents. Obtain accurate and up-to-date pricing information from databases, contractors, and suppliers. Input estimate takeoff information for specific discipline and develop unit cost pricing. Collaborate with engineers to develop a clear understanding of project scope during estimate preparation. Develop relationships with members of A/E firms and project team members. Assist senior staff in ways to improve project efficiency. Maintain and organize project documents such as drawings and specifications. Update and maintain data library of costs. Prepare cost reconciliation between multiple estimates and explain variance cost drivers. Essential Skills Experience in MEP, mechanical estimation, and quantity takeoffs. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Seven years of relevant experience in Manufacturing and/or Mechanical/Electrical/Process Piping contracting. Bachelor's degree in Construction, Quantity Surveying, or related field. Working knowledge of electronic takeoff including CAD Measure. Familiarity with commercially available construction cost estimating systems. Understanding and utilization of Information Technology in work performance, including Internet, Microsoft Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Project. Additional Skills & Qualifications Professional designations such as RICS, CCE, CCM, AIA, PE, ASPE, AACEI, CVS, AVS, RA, or appraisal licensure are preferred. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hillsboro, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
