Job Description

Job Summary:
The Project Manager | Estimator will plan and oversee every aspect of all assigned construction projects and project bids. The Project Manager | Estimator will put together responsible job cost estimates for potential work. They will research and coordinate means and methods with existing field supervision. The estimate will then be presented to supervision for approval to submit. Project Manager | Estimator will be expected to cooperate and work productively with all members of Big Rock Paving, LLC and Rylind Construction Company, Inc., and Rylind Traffic Services (when applicable).
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Must be willing to travel to any and all job sites without exception (including overnight stay as needed)
  • Plan and implement all phases of the construction lifecycle from initiation to completion.
  • Determine job costs associated with plans and specifications of a potential project.
  • Draft and submit all project bids.
  • Establish industry responsible bids.
  • Determine and manage all labor, material, and equipment resources required for the project.
  • Determine and assign project tasks to subcontractors required for the project.
  • Determine and manage all project documentation required by project.
  • Manage project Foreman and oversee their work.
  • Determine and manage the project schedule to ensure compliance of contractual requirements/specifications.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with engineers and project teams for a successful project.
  • Review and monitor daily project logs for accurate quantities, labor, equipment, and descriptive documentation.
  • Establish risk factors then manage and mitigate them to ensure a successful project.
  • Conduct regular site checks of the project to review the workers' progress and ensure all safety requirements are being complied with.
  • Coordinate and manage foremen, laborers, carpenters, operators, truck drivers, mechanics, and all other trades on assigned projects.
  • Coordinate project resource requirements and schedule with the Director of Operations to ensure corporate and project requirements.
  • Prepare budgets and cost estimates and manage them against the project schedule.
  • Evaluate and document results per item to understand other contractors' methods.
  • Be able to read, understand, and evaluate specifications and construction plans.
  • Be able to utilize existing estimating software.
Other job duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Must have reliable transportation, follow attendance policy and be ready to work at their designated start time.
  • Must pass a drug screen prior to employment and maintain a drug-free status.
  • Work efficiently, productively, and safely with few or no errors and consistently meet the production goals as set by the Director of Operations or President.
  • Must possess a current valid PA driver's license in order to operate any company vehicle
  • Must be willing to travel to any and all job sites without exception (including staying away from home if necessary)
  • Comply with all company and OSHA safety and personnel policies.
  • Utilize a computer to document daily productions, timesheets, and other electronic media.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities.
  • Possess and be proficient in using a wide variety of hand tools.
  • Read and understand blueprints, estimated productions, and construction costs.
Must be able to work with limited supervision.
Education and Experience:
  • High school or equivalent, technical school or college experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' work experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) - five (5) years of experience Project Managing
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, lift overhead, work at heights, walk/work in rough terrain in order to access equipment, tools, materials, and jobsite in order to complete work.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, and kneel for long periods of time.
  • Position may require frequent walking throughout the jobsite.
  • Work may be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease, and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment.
  • Must be able to make repetitive motions with all limbs.
  • Must be able to move two or more limbs together.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Must be able to work the hours necessary in order to achieve the goals of the company.
