Job Description
Axis Welding and Construction is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Sales Estimator to join our growing team. This position is responsible for developing accurate and competitive estimates for welding, fabrication, structural steel, dirt work and construction projects while building strong, long-term relationships with customers. The ideal candidate will have hands-on knowledge of welding, fabrication, construction, and project estimating, along with strong communication and sales skills. The Sales Estimator will work closely with customers, field crews, project managers, and company leadership to understand project requirements, develop accurate pricing, and help move projects from initial inquiry through completion. This job will require some travel to Ponca City. This is an important role within Axis Welding and Construction, directly impacting sales growth, project profitability, customer satisfaction, and overall company success. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and competitive estimates and proposals for welding, fabrication, structural steel, and construction projects.
- Review drawings, blueprints, specifications, scopes of work, and customer requirements to determine project costs.
- Calculate labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor, and other project-related costs.
- Conduct job-site visits to evaluate project conditions, measurements, scope, and requirements.
- Communicate directly with customers to understand their needs and develop appropriate project solutions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while actively developing new business opportunities.
- Follow up on estimates and proposals to increase the company's success rate in securing projects.
- Work closely with project managers, welders, fabricators, and field crews to ensure estimates accurately reflect the work required.
- Obtain and compare material and subcontractor pricing.
- Identify potential project risks, cost concerns, and scope gaps before proposals are submitted.
- Assist with contract negotiations, project scope clarification, and change-order pricing.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, proposals, customer communications, and project information.
- Monitor market conditions, material pricing, labor costs, and industry trends.
- Represent Axis Welding and Construction professionally in customer meetings, site visits, networking events, and industry functions.
- Help identify opportunities to expand services and increase revenue with existing and prospective customers. Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in estimating, welding, fabrication, construction, or a related industrial field preferred.
- Strong understanding of welding, fabrication, structural steel, and general construction practices.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to accurately estimate labor hours, materials, equipment, and other project costs.
- Strong communication, customer service, and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain customer relationships.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
