Estimator Conway, SC Full-TimeOn-Site$80,000 - $130,000 /yr Posted July 29, 2026 Civil Estimator Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive estimates for grading, paving, roadway, and sitework projects. The Civil Estimator will analyze plans and specifications, quantify materials and labor, coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers, and develop cost proposals that meet project requirements and company objectives. The ideal candidate has a strong background in DOT/highway projects, proven estimating experience, and excellent attention to detail. Key Responsibilities Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to determine scope, quantities, and constraints Perform detailed takeoffs for grading, paving, drainage, roadway, and sitework items using plan-reading skills and estimating software Prepare accurate cost estimates, bid proposals, and quantity spreadsheets for public and private sector projects Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain pricing, clarify scope, and validate assumptions Identify potential risks, value engineering opportunities, and alternative construction methods to improve competitiveness and profitability Ensure compliance with DOT specifications, highway standards, and contract requirements when applicable Maintain and update historical unit costs, databases, and estimating templates Assist in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and constructability reviews to validate quantities and assumptions Respond to owner and general contractor inquiries during bid review and assist in negotiating scope and pricing adjustments Qualifications 5+ years of estimating experience in civil construction with a strong emphasis on grading, paving, roadway, and sitework Demonstrated experience estimating DOT/highway projects and familiarity with DOT specifications and bidding processes Proficient in quantity takeoff and estimating software (e.g., HCSS, HeavyBid, CostX, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Excel Strong plan-reading skills including civil/site, grading, and drainage plans Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with a keen attention to detail Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple simultaneous bids Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience considered Valid drivers license and willingness to perform site visits and field measurements as needed Benefits Medical Vision Dental 401(K) Bonus And More!
