Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Junior Estimator supports the estimating function across ArborNature Site Solutions and ArborNature Asphalt & Concrete, assisting with quantity takeoffs, bid preparation, subcontractor and vendor quote solicitation, and proposal assembly for site work, grading, hardscape, asphalt paving, and concrete projects. This is a developmental role intended to build the skills needed to advance into a full Estimator position, combining office-based estimating work with periodic site visits to verify field conditions and scope.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform quantity takeoffs from plans, specifications, and site drawings for site work, grading, excavation, asphalt paving, and concrete/masonry projects under the guidance of supervisor. Assist in preparing accurate, timely bid packages and proposals for both public and private sector projects across both entities. Solicit, collect, and organize pricing quotes from material suppliers, equipment vendors, and subcontractors. Maintain and update pricing databases, historical cost records, and vendor/subcontractor contact information. Review project plans, specifications, and addenda to identify scope, quantities, and potential cost drivers. Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks as needed, and conduct site visits to verify field conditions, access, and existing site constraints. Assist in tracking upcoming bid opportunities, submission deadlines, and required bid documentation (bonds, insurance certificates, licenses). Support the preparation of change order pricing and budget estimates for active projects as requested. Coordinate with Operations, Project Management, and Sales to gather information needed for accurate estimates. Organize and maintain estimating files, plan sets, and bid documentation in accordance with company recordkeeping standards. Learn and apply industry-standard estimating and takeoff software as directed by the Manager. Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience. Prior experience in construction, site work, asphalt/concrete, landscaping, or a related trade is a plus, but not required for the right candidate. Basic understanding of construction plans, blueprints, and specifications, or a demonstrated aptitude and willingness to learn. Strong math and analytical skills, with close attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office; experience with estimating/takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, HCSS, or similar) is a plus. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously. Good written and verbal communication skills. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites within the Lowcountry service area as needed. Positive, team-oriented attitude consistent with ArborNature's core values.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily an office-based role requiring extended periods of sitting and computer work. Periodic travel to active job sites, which may involve walking on uneven or unfinished terrain, exposure to weather, dust, noise, and active construction equipment. Must be able to safely navigate active construction and site work environments while wearing required

$55,000.00
