Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Civil Construction Estimator to join our team and drive the success of our construction projects from the ground up. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project plans and specifications, and collaborating with project teams to ensure bids are competitive and profitable. Your expertise will help us deliver high-quality infrastructure and civil projects efficiently, while managing budgets and resources effectively. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale construction initiatives, utilizing your technical skills and industry knowledge to make a tangible impact. Duties Review construction drawings, technical specifications, and project documents to accurately interpret scope and requirements. Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing material quantities, labor hours, equipment needs, and subcontractor quotes using estimating software such as B2W Estimate, Trimble Business Center, and Bluebeam. Develop comprehensive bid proposals that include pricing strategies, risk assessments, and value engineering options. Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards. Manage project budgets by tracking costs throughout the bidding process and during project execution to ensure cost control and profitability. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to review contracts, scope changes, and project schedules for seamless project delivery. Utilize construction estimating techniques including blueprints review, interpreting technical drawings, and estimating material requirements from blueprints or digital models like Bluebeam. Conduct site visits to gather on-the-ground insights that influence accurate cost estimation and project planning. Monitor industry trends in construction costs, materials pricing, and new estimating tools such as Xactimate or HeavyBid software to enhance accuracy. Support project management teams in managing contracts, change orders, and ensuring adherence to safety standards on-site. Experience Proven experience in heavy civil or general construction estimating with a strong understanding of construction drawing review and interpretation. Demonstrated ability managing projects as a construction estimator from initial bid through project completion. Proficiency in estimating software such as Bluebeam, HeavyBid, Xactimate or similar tools for accurate cost analysis. Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms with vendors and subcontractors. Extensive construction site experience combined with knowledge of construction management practices. Familiarity with contract administration, cost management strategies, and project management principles within the civil construction sector. Excellent communication skills for collaborating across teams and presenting clear estimates aligned with client expectations.
