Prospecting Full Job Description Position:
Construction Sales and Estimator For the construction professional who knows how things get built — and wants to get paid for knowing how to sell them. We Don't Want a Salesy person. We Don't Want just an Estimator. We want the rare person who can be both — and who's been dying for someone to build them a role that finally fits. Here's the truth: most job posts are written by HR. This one isn't. I wrote this myself, because I'm the guy you'd actually be working with, and I don't want a stack of generic resumes from people who skimmed the title and applied to fifty jobs today. I want the one person reading this right now, nodding, thinking "finally, someone gets it." So let's skip the fluff. Here's the deal. The Problem I'm Trying to Solve I've got sales. I've got estimating. What I don't have is the person who sits in the middle — someone who can walk into a homeowner's garage on Tuesday and close the sale, then sit down Wednesday and estimate a six-figure commercial epoxy job for a general contractor. That person doesn't show up on job boards often. But if you're reading this and thinking "that's literally me," then stop scrolling. Most companies hire for a title. I'm hiring for a gap — the exact space between our sales team and our estimating desk. If you've spent your career being told you're "too detail-oriented to be in sales" or "too sales-y to be an estimator," this role was built for you. What You'll Actually Do Sit across from a homeowner and sell them on fixing their concrete — no script-reading, real conversations Turn around and read a commercial spec sheet like it's a bedtime story, then build a bid that wins the job Split your week roughly 50/50 between the two — residential sales, commercial estimating Prospect using a system we've already built and will teach you — you won't be starting cold Keep every deal, every note, every follow-up organized in JobNimbus like it's your own business (because with commission like this, it kind of is) Occasionally hit the road to create and cultivate business. Report straight to me. No middle manager translating what I meant. Who You Are (Read This Twice) I don't care as much about your sales resume as I care about whether you understand construction. Have you worked in construction? Do you know how to read a blue print, or what preconstruction planing is? Good. That's the hard part. I can teach you to sell. You've got real construction experience — worked on a jobsite or in an office supporting the job site You're organized to a fault — the kind of person whose truck is cleaner than most people's desks You're dedicated, direct, decisive, competitive, and allergic to sitting still You want to be paid for what you produce, not for showing up Bonus points if you've messed around with AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude — we use them, and we're only using more If you're the kind of person who reorganizes the pantry because the labels weren't facing forward — and you also can't stand being told "no" without a fight — keep reading. What This Pays (Because I'm Not Going to Waste Your Time) Most companies bury comp at the bottom in vague language. I'm putting it up front and in plain numbers, because a serious candidate deserves a serious answer. Training Period 3-6 months — we go as fast as you're ready for Training Pay $3,000
  • 4,000/month while you learn — negotiable based on what you bring After Training Slides toward 80% commission / 20% salary — the more you produce, the more you keep (Over 12-18 months) Commission 3
  • 7% of everything you sell, on a sliding scale — no cap Vehicle $500/month, just for driving to do your job. Gas card provided for gas. Benefits PTO and health insurance — included, not negotiated away Year One, Realistically $70,000
  • $90,000 That's not a ceiling.
That's what a typical first year looks like. What you do after that is up to you. The Part Where I'm Honest With You This isn't a role where you sit back and wait for leads to fall in your lap, and it isn't a desk job where you never talk to a customer. It's both, at the same time, and that's exactly why it's hard to fill. If you want easy, this isn't it. If you want a role built around what you're actually good at — built by the guy who'll be standing next to you — keep reading, and then reach out. Ready? Send me your resume and a few sentences on your construction background — skip the cover letter formalities, just tell me why this fits. 423.708.2517
