Job Description
EstimatorPosition OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to join our construction team. The Estimator will prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates and budgets for construction projects, support pre-construction planning, and help drive successful bid submissions. This role focuses on delivering reliable quantity takeoffs, analyzing subcontractor and supplier bids, and collaborating with project managers to ensure projects are priced competitively and executed profitably.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare complete and accurate cost estimates and quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and project documents.
Develop detailed line-item budgets and scope breakdowns for bids, proposals, and budget forecasting.
Solicit, evaluate, and compare subcontractor and supplier quotes; maintain strong vendor and subcontractor relationships.
Perform value engineering to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining project requirements and quality.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and design teams during pre-construction to refine scope and schedule.
Maintain and update historical cost databases, assemblies, and unit rates to improve estimating accuracy.
Prepare and present estimate summaries and bid packages to internal stakeholders and clients.
Support change order pricing and manage estimate revisions through project lifecycle.
Ensure estimates comply with project specifications, codes, and contractual requirements.
Use estimating software and digital takeoff tools to increase efficiency and precision.
QualificationsMinimum 3 years of experience as an Estimator in the construction industry; proven track record of preparing commercial estimates.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, means and methods, and trade scopes.
Proficient with takeoff and estimating software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar), Microsoft Excel, and estimating databases.
Excellent plan reading and specification interpretation skills; able to perform detailed quantity takeoffs.
Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills with high attention to detail.
Effective communication and negotiation skills for working with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Valid drivers license and ability to visit job sites as needed.
Required skills: Construction Estimating.
Nice to have: experience in Commercial, Multifamily, and/or Reconstruction projects.
