SENIOR CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR MIRADOR
is an award-winning, best value construction management company that specializes in MACC, MATOC, JOC and SABER contracts as well as multi-million-dollar vertical stand-alone projects. The company provides full-service construction and facilities management. Mirador is seeking a Senior Construction Estimator to join our Team.
Primary Purpose:
The candidate must illustrate experience and professional attributes to implement a successful estimating program that requires managing the company's estimating functions necessary to develop, submit and win profitable construction contracts. This position requires a candidate with experience in reviewing, evaluating and identifying high probability win opportunities that match the company's capabilities, past performance and experience. Reviewing, itemizing and developing detail construction scopes of work from contract general terms, drawings, and specifications that encompass a complete estimate. Identifying risk areas in each opportunity and implementing plans to mitigate risks. Searching, identifying and developing professional relationships with qualified responsive specialty subcontractors with experience, performance, and financial capabilities to successfully perform in areas of their expertise. Experience developing competitive, high quality, responsive, timely, accurate cost estimates, writing technical work plans and narratives, developing detailed construction schedules. Experience verifying subcontractor quotes against the general contract terms, drawings, and specifications. Performing accurate equitable buyouts for awarded contracts, and experience developing and performing complete informative handoffs to operational personnel. The measure of success will be based on the number of contracts awarded with minimal operational issues. This requirement will require a high degree of self-discipline and dedication, solid team approach effort, meticulous accuracy, consistent communication, performing follow-up, scheduled and unscheduled reviews/reports of the status of multiple estimating simultaneous efforts for the Company.
Qualifications:
  • Federal Contracting and IDIQ Specific Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Ten or more years of experience
  • Experience with Design-Build, Design-Bid-Build and Unit Price estimates
  • High degree of writing skills
  • High degree of construction scheduling skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and marketing skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), RS Means, Bluebeam, ConstructConnect, P6, Procore, e4clicks
  • Ability to travel for site visits, professional conferences, attend preconstruction meetings, review construction in progress
  • Pass City, State and Federal Security Background Checks

USA Major Responsibilities:
1. Immediately implement the estimating programs protocols and process without significant training and a transition period. 2. Lead and oversee all estimating activities for general construction projects 3. Develop accurate and competitive cost estimates for federal, state, and private sector projects. 4. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to gather and validate cost data. 5. Analyze project plans, specifications, and contract documents to determine scope and requirements. 6. Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, cost breakdowns, and bid proposals. 7. Maintain and update historical cost databases and regional pricing benchmarks. 8. Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids for completeness, compliance and competitiveness. 9. Provide strategic input during preconstruction and value engineering phases. 10. Mentor and manage subordinate estimators and support staff. 11. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and contractual requirements.
