In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive electrical project estimates, supporting the successful bidding and execution of commercial electrical projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in electrical systems, construction industry standards, and estimating methodologies, ensuring the delivery of precise cost projections that align with project specifications and client expectations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale projects by leveraging your technical expertise and estimating proficiency. Responsibilities Review construction drawings, electrical blueprints, and schematics to determine project scope and requirements. Develop detailed estimates for electrical systems, including material costs, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services. Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and other industry-standard tools to compile accurate bid proposals. Conduct thorough analysis of electrical building codes (e.g., NEC) and NFPA 70 compliance standards to ensure estimates meet all regulatory requirements. Manage material cost estimating and pricing strategies while negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to optimize project budgets. Collaborate with project managers, clients, and design teams to clarify project details and refine estimates. Prepare bid packages that include detailed scopes of work, cost breakdowns, and schedules. Review construction drawings for accuracy and completeness; identify potential conflicts or issues early in the estimating process. Monitor project costs throughout the bidding process to ensure alignment with budget expectations. Support contract negotiations by providing detailed cost analysis and value engineering suggestions. Assist in developing construction project budgets and participate in project management activities related to cost control. Qualifications 5-10 years of commercial electrical estimating experience. Proven experience in electrical estimating within the construction industry, with a focus on commercial projects. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, blueprint reading, and interpretation of electrical schematics. Familiarity with estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and other relevant tools. Solid understanding of NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70 standards, and electrical building codes applicable across various jurisdictions. Experience reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents for accuracy. Excellent negotiation skills coupled with effective client communication abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and reporting purposes. Construction site experience or construction management background is highly desirable. Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail. Strong organizational skills with a focus on cost management and project budgeting.
