Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Sheet Metal Fabrication Estimator to join our team and drive the success of our commercial construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating costs related to sheet metal fabrication, interpreting technical drawings, and managing project budgets from inception to completion. Your expertise will ensure competitive pricing, effective cost control, and seamless communication with clients and project teams. Duties Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications related to sheet metal fabrication projects. Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services using estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar tools. Utilize construction management software and spreadsheets to develop accurate project budgets and track cost progress throughout the project lifecycle. Collaborate with clients, suppliers, and internal teams through negotiation to secure competitive pricing and favorable contract terms. Manage multiple projects simultaneously by assessing material requirements from blueprints, calculating quantities, and ensuring timely procurement. Conduct site visits to gather on-site data, verify project scope, and support accurate estimation efforts based on construction site experience. Review contracts and construction documents to ensure compliance with project specifications, cost control measures, and industry standards such as Xactimate or Bluebeam. Lead efforts in cost management by analyzing material costs, labor estimates, and potential risks to maintain profitable margins. Communicate effectively with clients regarding project scope changes, pricing adjustments, and project timelines to foster strong relationships. Support project teams by providing detailed estimates that facilitate planning, scheduling, and resource allocation. Qualifications Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry. Strong proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid or equivalent; familiarity with Bluebeam for digital blueprint review is highly desirable. Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and estimating material requirements from blueprints. Skilled in using Microsoft Office applications including Excel spreadsheets for data analysis and cost tracking. Demonstrated ability in negotiation with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing. Experience with construction management software tools that support cost control and project scheduling. Excellent understanding of construction drawing review processes, contracts, and cost management principles. Construction site experience is preferred to better interpret on-the-ground realities impacting estimates. Strong communication skills for client interaction and internal team collaboration. Knowledge of estimating for commercial projects including material cost estimating and budgeting techniques.
