Role Highlights:
The Estimator will be responsible for assessing project costs and preparing accurate bids for upcoming projects. Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop comprehensive cost estimates, ensuring competitive and profitable bids while maintaining compliance with client and organizational standards.
Shaping Impact:
Your Key Responsibilities:
Review project plans, specifications, and technical documents to determine scope of work. Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services. Analyze drawings and other bid documents to identify potential cost-saving opportunities. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather pricing and confirm scope. Assist in developing bid proposals and compile all necessary documentation. Conduct market research to stay informed of current prices for materials and labor. Evaluate and analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers. Identify potential risks or uncertainties that could impact costs or project timelines. Maintain organized records of estimates, bid documents, changes, and correspondence. Support the negotiation process with clients and subcontractors.
Your Unique Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field. Proven experience as an Estimator in construction, engineering, or a related industry. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and pricing. Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Trimble, Procore) and MS Office Suite. Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and accuracy in preparing cost estimates. Good understanding of contracts, legal requirements, and bidding procedures. Strong communication and negotiation skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimates simultaneously. Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
Physical Skills and Essential Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods while reviewing plans, specifications, and estimates. Proficiency with computers, including keyboarding and operating standard office software. Visual acuity is sufficient to read detailed documents, blueprints, and screens. Good communication skills for collaborating with team members and clients, which may involve sitting in meetings. Ability to adjust focus between documents, computer screens, and tasks over long periods.
