Commercial Construction / General Contracting Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join a well-established construction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial construction estimating , with additional experience in civil, site development, public works, or industrial construction highly preferred. This position is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates from conceptual budgeting through final bid. The Estimator will review plans and specifications, perform detailed quantity takeoffs, solicit subcontractor and supplier pricing, evaluate project risks, and develop complete bid proposals. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed estimates for commercial construction projects from conceptual design through final bid. Review drawings, specifications, addenda, geotechnical reports, and other contract documents. Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work. Estimate scopes including sitework, earthwork, concrete, utilities, structural components, paving, drainage, and building construction . Solicit, review, and compare subcontractor and vendor proposals. Develop competitive bid packages, budgets, and cost breakdowns. Identify scope gaps, project risks, constructability concerns, and potential cost-saving opportunities. Prepare RFIs and communicate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers. Maintain current knowledge of material pricing, labor rates, equipment costs, and market conditions. Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, bid reviews, and project handoffs. Work closely with Project Managers and Operations teams to ensure estimates accurately reflect project requirements. Assist with value engineering and alternative construction methods. Maintain organized estimating documentation and historical cost information. Qualifications 5+ years of commercial construction estimating experience preferred. Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, sequencing, and costs. Experience with civil construction, sitework, utilities, concrete, public works, or industrial projects is highly desirable. Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings and specifications. Strong quantity takeoff and cost-analysis skills. Experience with estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, HCSS, BuildingConnected, Procore, or similar platforms . Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Excellent communication, negotiation, organization, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple estimates and bid deadlines simultaneously. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered. Preferred Experience Candidates with estimating experience involving commercial buildings, municipal/public works, schools, healthcare facilities, site development, underground utilities, concrete, heavy civil, or industrial construction are strongly encouraged to apply.
