This role is responsible for accurately estimating projects ranging from $1,000 service calls to million-dollar small commercial projects, coordinating electrical pricing with our HVAC and plumbing sales teams on bundled proposals, and working closely with the field, office, and customers to deliver a seamless experience from bid to hand-off. A Texas Journeyman Electrician license (or equivalent license from another state) is required.
Note:
We may also consider a Junior Estimator hire at a lower salary for candidates with less experience, with the opportunity to train and grow into the full Estimator role.
Key Responsibilities:
Walk job sites and complete estimates in a timely manner Communicate project design and scope clearly with customers Quote work based on field technician input, including photos and job narratives Estimate a wide range of project sizes, from small service calls to large-scale projects Coordinate electrical pricing with HVAC and plumbing sales staff when a project (e.g., a chiller or boiler job) touches multiple trades, so accurate combined proposals can be presented to the customer Write clear, accurate, and well-organized proposal scopes that leave no ambiguity for the customer or the field Maintain strong knowledge of supply houses and current product offerings Prepare accurate takeoffs and pricing using Accubid Use Bluebeam for plan markup, takeoffs, and document review Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) for estimates, proposals, and communication Understand and apply job costing and gross profit principles to ensure accurate, profitable bids Coordinate job hand-offs and budgets with Project Managers and Accounting Collaborate with field and office staff to ensure customer expectations are met throughout the project lifecycle
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of estimating experience (electrical industry) Texas Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent license from another state (required) Proficiency with Accubid, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite Solid understanding of job costing and gross profit Strong working knowledge of electrical materials, supply houses, and vendor offerings Ability to read and interpret blueprints/plans Lighting design/estimating experience preferred Data center project experience preferred Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to write clear and detailed proposal scopes Strong verbal communication skills for coordinating with other trades, field staff, and customers Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple bids/projects simultaneously Comfortable walking job sites and working directly with field technicians
