Job Description

Junior Estimator — Fence Division Swift Corporation | Round Rock, TX | On-site Full-Time About the Role Swift Corporation is growing our fence installation estimating team and looking to hire 1-2 Junior Estimators to join us on-site in Round Rock, TX. We specialize exclusively in institutional, industrial, and commercial fence work — we do not perform residential installations , so you'll be estimating meaningful, large-scale projects from day one, not backyard fences. In this role, you'll work under the direct supervision of our estimating leadership to prepare accurate takeoffs and cost estimates for the fence installation portions of projects, both as a prime contractor and as a subcontractor bidding to general contractors. We're especially interested in candidates who are naturally tech-savvy and curious about AI tools. You'll be encouraged to use and suggest software and AI-assisted workflows that make takeoffs, pricing, and proposals faster and sharper from day one. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their construction career who wants hands-on training in estimating, a clear growth path, and the chance to directly influence which projects we win, with pay that reflects it. As you build experience, there's real room to grow into a more senior estimating role with direct GC relationships and ownership over how our bidding process scales. What You'll Do
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for fence installation scopes from plans, specs, and site drawings
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates covering materials, labor, and equipment for fence work
  • Support estimating leadership on bids for both prime contracts and subcontract proposals
  • Review project drawings and specifications to identify scope, quantities, and potential risks
  • Review contracts and scope of work documents to ensure estimates align with project specifications
  • Request and compare vendor and supplier pricing for materials
  • Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to gather pricing information and negotiate favorable terms
  • Assist in preparing bid packages, proposals, and subcontractor pricing submissions
  • Track and organize estimating documentation for active and completed bids
  • Collaborate with project managers and field teams to refine estimates based on real-world conditions
  • Use AI tools and estimating software to speed up takeoffs, quantity checks, and proposal drafting — and bring ideas for new tools worth adopting
  • Support estimating leadership in managing multiple bids simultaneously while maintaining high standards of accuracy and timeliness What We're Looking For
  • 0-2 years of experience in construction, estimating, or a related field (internships and relevant coursework count)
  • Strong math and analytical skills; comfortable working with detailed numbers and specs
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and blueprints (or strong willingness to learn)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with estimating software is a plus but not required
  • Genuinely tech-savvy; comfortable picking up new software quickly and excited (not intimidated) by AI tools; experience using AI tools for research, writing, or analysis in school or a prior job is a plus
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and follow-through
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • A self-starter attitude with the ability to take direction and grow into more independent responsibility
  • Interest in the fencing, fabrication, or broader construction industry is a plus Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary: $48,000
  • 52,000, based on experience
  • Incentive program: you will earn a % of awarded projects you successfully bid on.
  • Paid time off
  • Direct mentorship from experienced estimating leadership
  • Clear path for advancement into Estimator and Senior Estimator roles, including future ownership of GC relationships and our bidding process, as you build experience Why Swift Corporation Swift Corporation is a family-owned company with a long history in the fence installation industry, focused exclusively on institutional, industrial, and commercial projects — no residential work.
We aren't a bloated company with layers between you and the people who built this business. That means real access to leadership, decisions made by people who know your name, and a culture where junior team members are mentored, not just managed. We work across both prime and subcontract work, so our estimators get exposure to a wide range of project types and clients from day one. Because we're still a close-knit team, you'll learn directly from experienced estimators who are invested in helping you grow, not just handing off tasks. If you want a place where you're known, supported, and given a real shot to build a career in estimating, this is it.
