Job Description Job Description Job Description About the Role JH Contracting, LLC is seeking an experienced Civil Construction Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive estimates for civil and site-development projects. This position will review plans and specifications, complete quantity takeoffs, obtain subcontractor and supplier pricing, and develop detailed project budgets. The ideal candidate understands civil construction methods, communicates well with field and project-management teams, and can manage multiple bids while meeting deadlines. Key Responsibilities Review project plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid documents Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates Estimate labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and project overhead Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals Identify project risks, scope gaps, value-engineering opportunities, and cost-saving options Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits when needed Prepare bid packages, proposals, clarifications, and scope summaries Maintain accurate estimating records and historical cost data Support bid reviews, project handoffs, and change-order pricing Work closely with project managers, superintendents, engineers, and company leadership Typical Project Scopes Earthwork and grading Storm drainage Water and sewer systems Concrete and paving Roadway and site-development construction Qualifications 3-5 years of civil construction estimating or related field experience Strong knowledge of civil plans, specifications, construction methods, and sequencing Experience completing quantity takeoffs and preparing detailed estimates Ability to interpret grading, utility, roadway, drainage, and site plans Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating or takeoff software Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Ability to prioritize multiple bids and meet firm deadlines Valid driver's license and ability to attend occasional jobsite or pre-bid visits Preferred Qualifications Experience in construction management, heavy civil estimation and ability to read and understand plans Established relationships with local subcontractors and material suppliers Previous civil construction field or project-management experience What We Offer Competitive salary Medical, dental, and vision insurance Paid vacation and holidays Stable, long-term employment with opportunities for advancement Schedule Monday through Friday Primarily office-based, with occasional site visits Apply Today If you are a detail-oriented civil estimator who takes pride in producing accurate, well-supported bids, we would like to hear from you.
