Mechanical Estimator Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for HVAC systems in commercial and industrial projects. This role requires a strong understanding of HVAC systems, blueprint reading, and cost analysis to ensure competitive and profitable bids.Key Responsibilities:
Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to prepare accurate HVAC estimates. Perform quantity take-offs for HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, and controls. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and sales teams to develop comprehensive bid proposals. Use estimating software and databases to calculate labor, material, and equipment costs. Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project scope and conditions. Prepare and submit bid packages in a timely manner. Maintain cost history records and support value engineering efforts. Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and improve future estimates.Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or related field preferred. Minimum 3 years of experience in HVAC estimating or related field. Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and installation practices. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and estimating software (e.g., FastEST, QuoteSoft, Trimble, etc.). Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong time management and ability to meet deadlines.Preferred:
Familiarity with local and national building codes and industry standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, etc.). Experience working in both commercial and residential sectors. Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design tools is a plus.Job Type:
