SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER / ESTIMATOR
Site & Underground Utilities Contractor We are an established and growing site and utility contractor with approximately 35 employees specializing in sewer, water, storm drain, excavation, and site work on major construction projects. We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager / Estimator to join our team and take a leadership role in both estimating and project management. This is more than just an estimating position. We are looking for someone who can bring experience, organization, and modern estimating and project-management systems to our company. Our estimating has traditionally been done in-house using printed plans and manual takeoffs, and we are ready to take the next step. The right person will understand digital takeoff and bidding software, job costing, project management, underground utilities, and heavy civil/site construction and will help us improve our processes from bid through project completion. What You'll Do Manage the estimating and bidding process for site and underground utility projects Perform accurate digital takeoffs for sewer, water, storm drain, excavation, grading, and related site work Help select, implement, and utilize modern estimating/takeoff software and bidding systems Prepare detailed estimates including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, production rates, and project costs Review plans, specifications, addenda, and contract documents Track project budgets and actual costs vs. estimated costs Improve our job-costing systems so we have better real-time visibility into project profitability Oversee projects from preconstruction through completion Work closely with owners, superintendents, foremen, vendors, subcontractors, engineers, and general contractors Assist with scheduling, change orders, billing, production tracking, and project documentation Identify potential problems early and help keep projects on schedule and within budget Develop systems and processes that improve organization and efficiency throughout the company Take ownership of day-to-day project management responsibilities and help build a structure that allows company ownership to step back from daily project oversight What We're Looking For Strong experience in heavy civil, site work, excavation, and/or underground utilities Experience estimating sewer, water, storm drain, grading, excavation, and related scopes Strong knowledge of estimating and digital takeoff software Understanding of job costing, production rates, labor and equipment costs, and project profitability Project management experience from award through project closeout Ability to read and understand civil construction plans and specifications Strong organizational and communication skills Comfortable implementing new systems and helping a company transition from manual processes to more efficient technology A self-starter who can take ownership of the position without needing constant direction Someone who is equally comfortable working with owners in the office and field personnel on the jobsite Compensation For the right person with significant heavy civil estimating, project management, and software experience, compensation is negotiable. Company vehicle or vehicle allowance provided. Why This Opportunity Is Different We aren't looking for someone to simply fill an existing position—we're looking for someone who can help us build the position and improve the way we operate. We are an established company with a strong field team and steady workload. This position will have significant input into how we estimate, manage projects, track costs, and organize our operations going forward. If you have worked for a successful civil/site contractor and understand how to bring together estimating, project management, job costing, and technology, we'd like to talk to you.
