Precon Manager Position Summary The Estimator position is a key company position primarily responsible for estimating the work of planned residential construction projects. The Estimator is responsible for pursuing job opportunities, gathering proposals, plans, specifications and related documents, and estimating labor, material, and time requirements in order to accurately forecast the overall cost of a project. As a main point of contact, the Estimator regularly represents the company and interacts with clients, visitors, contractors, professional service providers, business partners, and others. The position requires professional and courteous conduct at all times, and excellence in customer service delivery. Pay is depending on experience, qualifications and performance. Duties and Responsibilities Develop relationships with key community members to support continued business development Support homeowners as they modify plans to understand cost impacts Review bid documents, plans, and project specifications and prepare accurate cost estimates Identify potential project risks and opportunities for cost savings Participate in design-build or pre-construction planning processes with project management team Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors to ensure accurate competitive pricing and availability of materials Collaborate with project management team or owner representatives to review project timelines, budgets, and specifications Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required Provide support during the construction process to ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget Code invoices and ensure proper documentation of costs where applicable Participate in post-project reviews to analyze project costs and identify areas for improvement Assist with special projects Deal with confidential and proprietary information on a regular basis and must be able to exercise professional discretion and maintain confidentiality Attend Project and Client meetings as assigned Learn to effectively and efficiently use management and scheduling software by attaining Buildertrend or related certifications for applicable position. Perform other duties as assigned or needed. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field Minimum 3 years of experience in construction estimating or similar/related field Strong knowledge of construction principles and practices Professional and courteous demeanor with commitment to excellence in customer service Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality with proprietary and other information Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint Ability to prepare reports and communications on behalf of company Ability to multi-task and to work under time constraints and other stresses Knowledge of Buildertrend, or similar construction management software preferred, but not required Willingness to learn and adapt within a dynamic workplace environment Ability to work independently and as part of a team •The above cited Qualifications, Duties, Responsibilities, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities describe the general nature and level or work performed and are not representative of an exhaustive list that the Estimator may be asked or expected to perform.
