Job Description

POSITION
•
Position Summary:
The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and timely estimates on all assigned projects to ensure competitive and profitable projects. Continually strives to discover methods to improve accuracy and timely processing of requests for estimates and production processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in multi-plant RFP (Request for Proposal) reviews - enabling large projects to be coordinated with estimating teams.
- Understand the product, project, or scope of RFP and its requirements through review of graphics, engineering, specifications, blueprints, and other related documents.
- Gather material and labor cost information from vendors and/or engineering department in order to process timely and accurate product manufacturing estimates.
- Calculate material, labor, and overhead costs, achieving target gross margin.
- Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information such as current material cost and time studies for labor in each work center.
- Create and submit estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
- Maintain estimating files on all projects.
- Develop standard data to quickly estimate products.
- Obtain and review offers and quotes from vendors or subcontractors when required.
- Maintain a high level of consistency, detail, and accuracy on all projects.
- Work closely with the manufacturing team to maintain knowledge of manufacturing processes currently used on existing projects, as well as to provide time studies, line layouts, plant layouts, process improvements, and equipment capabilities.
- Estimate tool costs, assist with scheduling tool builds, repairs, certification processes, and maintenance.
- Complete projects in a timely manner according to deadlines set by customer service and the client.
Educational Requirements /
Experience:
- Two-year degree in industrial engineering or manufacturing engineering with studies in time and motion, or equivalent years of related work experience.
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in metal fabrication, layout, set up and/or estimating, preferably in the outdoor sign business.
- Experience in commercial outdoor signage and/or construction preferred.
- Excellent communication, self-management, time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Possess working knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks software.
AS400 knowledge is desirable.
