Estimator Position Summary We're hiring an experienced Estimator to lead cost estimating and bid development for our commercial construction projects. This role is built for someone who has done this before — someone who can pick up a drawing set, run a full takeoff, and know instinctively where the scope gaps and pricing risks are. You'll own the estimating process from plan review through vendor pricing to final bid package, working across multiple active bids at once. If you've built your career on plans, specs, and takeoffs and want to bring that expertise to a growing commercial construction team, we want to talk to you. What You'll Do Estimating & Takeoffs Review commercial construction project plans, specifications, and bid documents to scope labor, material, and equipment needs Prepare quantity takeoffs across multiple concurrent bids Build accurate, defensible cost estimates from takeoff through final bid Analyze vendor and subcontractor quotes for scope compliance, completeness, and competitiveness Identify scope gaps and pricing discrepancies before they become project risk Assemble complete bid packages and proposal documentation Maintain historical cost data and bid records to sharpen future estimates Own bid schedules and deadlines across a full pipeline of active opportunities Procurement & Vendor Relations Source and compare competitive pricing from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors Build and maintain vendor relationships that improve pricing, availability, and project support Qualify new vendors and maintain vendor certification and qualification records Support negotiation on pricing, delivery schedules, and purchasing terms Resolve vendor issues around pricing, delivery, and availability Bid & Project Support Keep bid files organized and follow up on outstanding quotes ahead of deadlines Build bid comparison spreadsheets and summary reports for decision-makers Flag value-engineering and cost-saving opportunities Support purchasing activity following project award What You Bring Proven, hands-on experience reading commercial construction plans, specifications, and bid documents — this is the core of the role A strong track record of quantity takeoffs across commercial projects; what matters is volume and range of takeoffs completed, not years on a timeline Experience across multiple commercial project types and scopes (the more variety, the better) Fluency in translating plan details into scope, pricing, and risk — you can look at a drawing set and immediately know what to price and who to call Experience coordinating vendor and subcontractor pricing in a commercial construction environment Strong Excel skills; experience with estimating/takeoff software strongly preferred Comfort managing a high-volume pipeline of concurrent bids under deadline pressure Good to Know Mostly desk-based, with occasional travel to vendor locations, job sites, or pre-bid meetings Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs
