About the Opportunity Professional Fire Protection is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer / Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for designing fire sprinkler systems, preparing accurate cost estimates, and supporting project execution from concept through completion. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of fire protection systems, applicable codes, and construction practices. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of water-based systems, NFPA standards, hydraulic calculations, and, for designers, proficiency in CAD-based design software.
Key Responsibilities Design Fire Sprinkler Systems:
Develop detailed layouts and schematics for fire sprinkler systems using CAD or related software. Perform hydraulic calculations to ensure compliance with NFPA and local codes. Review architectural and structural plans to integrate sprinkler designs seamlessly.
Estimate Project Costs:
Prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment. Generate bills of materials and project proposals for clients. Collaborate with sales and operations teams to ensure competitive and profitable bids.
Project Coordination:
Work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction). Attend project meetings and provide technical input on fire protection requirements. Support installation teams to ensure designs are implemented correctly.
ComplianceDocumentation:
Ensure all designs meet NFPA standards, building codes, and client specifications. Maintain organized project files and documentation for internal and regulatory purposes. Qualifications NICET Level II or higher in Water-Based Systems Layout (preferred). Minimum 2-3 years of experience in fire sprinkler design and/or estimating. Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software; experience with hydraulic calculation tools. Strong understanding of
NFPA 13, NFPA
25, and related fire protection standards. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Preferred Skills Experience with project management software and estimating systems. Knowledge of local building codes and permitting processes. Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
