Full-Time/Direct Hire Cornerstone Staffing Solutions is hiring an experienced Estimator for a direct-hire opportunity in Roanoke, VA. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with estimating experience and a background in construction and/or electrical systems who is looking to grow their career with an established organization.

JOB SUMMARY

The Estimator I prepares bids and written proposals based on specifications provided by customers and/or Business Development Managers. This position is responsible for estimating material and labor costs, preparing proposals, reviewing customer requirements, and ensuring projects are completed accurately and within required deadlines. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable managing multiple priorities, and has a working knowledge of construction and basic electrical systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with the bids and proposals process, including estimating costs and preparing detailed written proposals and compliance matrices. Review construction drawings, customer specifications, and basic electrical requirements. Demonstrate familiarity with single-phase electrical systems commonly used in commercial and light industrial construction, including basic distribution layouts, panelboards, branch circuits, and general installation practices. Use construction knowledge and estimating skills to determine material quantities, labor requirements, and total project costs. Obtain quotations and pricing from suppliers and subcontractors. Work with Purchasing to maintain accurate material costs on bid forms. Work with Human Resources to maintain accurate labor costs. Assist Business Development Managers with follow-up calls regarding previously submitted quotations. Review and confirm that customer specifications and purchase orders align with submitted proposals. Manage multiple projects and meet customer-mandated deadlines. Perform other duties as assigned by the Bids & Proposals Manager or Lead Estimator.

QUALIFICATIONS 1-5

years of estimating experience preferred. One-year certificate or Associate degree preferred. Previous construction and/or electrical experience. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings. Understanding of basic electrical specifications and typical installation methods. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to multitask and prioritize competing deadlines. Professional and dependable work style. Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
