Job Description
Electrical Special Projects Estimator / Project Manager Cutter Electric is seeking an experienced Electrical Special Projects Estimator / Project Manager to join our growing team. Our Special Projects and Service Division performs a wide variety of commercial and industrial electrical work throughout Washington State, including tenant improvements, electrical upgrades, lighting retrofits, equipment installations, service work, and other small-to-medium-sized electrical projects. We are looking for someone who can independently estimate, sell, and manage electrical projects while developing long-term relationships with our customers. This is an opportunity for an experienced electrical professional who wants ownership of their work and the ability to take a project from the initial customer request through completion. Responsibilities Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial and industrial electrical projects. Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and customer requirements to determine complete project scope. Perform detailed material takeoffs and labor calculations. Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing. Prepare proposals, budgets, change orders, and T&M estimates. Estimate service work, lighting retrofits, tenant improvements, equipment installations, and other special projects. Communicate directly with general contractors, facility managers, business owners, vendors, and other customers. Follow up on outstanding proposals and help convert opportunities into awarded work. Maintain existing customer relationships while developing new opportunities. Manage awarded projects from preconstruction through completion. Coordinate manpower, material, equipment, scheduling, and project requirements with field personnel. Procure materials and ensure they are available when required. Monitor project costs, labor performance, schedule, and overall profitability. Identify potential scope changes and ensure additional work is properly documented and priced. Work closely with field leadership and office staff to keep projects on schedule and customers informed. Perform project turnover and closeout while maintaining strong customer relationships for future work. Qualifications Commercial electrical estimating experience required. +5 Years Strong working knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical systems, materials, installation methods, and labor requirements. Experience managing electrical construction or special projects. Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents. Strong understanding of material takeoffs and labor estimating. Ability to manage multiple estimates and active projects simultaneously. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable communicating directly with customers, general contractors, vendors, and field personnel. Self-motivated and capable of working independently while remaining part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work. Experience with electrical estimating and construction management software is a plus. What We're Looking For The right person for this position is someone who takes ownership.
