Residential Project Estimator (Manitowish Waters, WI) Full-time shift Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with rotating Saturdays 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Summary The Residential Project Estimator serves as the primary point of contact for homeowners, Do-It-Yourself (DIY) customers, and one-time residential building projects. This position is responsible for guiding customers through the estimating, quoting, ordering, and delivering process by coordinating material takeoffs, preparing accurate quotations, protecting company margins, and delivering an exceptional customer experience from the initial consultation through project completion. The Residential Project Estimator works closely and professionally with customers, vendors, estimating resources, purchasing, sales support, and delivery to ensure projects are accurate, complete, and delivered according to customer expectations. This position also supports the Manitowish Waters sales counter as needed and participates in the Saturday work rotation. Customer and Project Management Serve as the primary contact for homeowners, DIY customers, and one-time residential construction projects. Own assigned projects from the initial customer consultation through final delivery and project completion. Build customer confidence by educating customers throughout the building process and adjusting communication based on each customer's experience level. Maintain regular communication with customers regarding project progress, pricing, ordering, and delivery schedules. Evaluate customers for long-term sales potential and coordinate the transition of recurring contractor accounts to an Outside Sales Representative when appropriate. Estimating & Sales Complete material takeoffs for homeowners and DIY projects when appropriate and coordinate larger or specialized takeoffs through approved estimating resources. Review customer blueprints, sketches, and project information. Review completed takeoffs for completeness and accuracy. Prepare accurate quotations for complete project packages. Recommend products and value-added solutions that best meet customer needs. Coordinate pricing and procurement of special-order materials. Protect company gross margins while providing competitive and accurate quotations. Maintain knowledge of building materials, products, vendors, and estimating resources. Ordering and Delivering Coordination Place and coordinate material orders for assigned projects. Coordinate with Purchasing, Sales Support, Delivery, and vendors to ensure products are available when needed. Monitor project status and proactively communicate delays or changes. Customer Service and Problem Resolution Resolve customer concerns related to orders, deliveries, warranties, and special-order materials. Coordinate solutions with Sales Support, vendors, Purchasing, and Branch Management. Deliver an exceptional customer experience throughout every phase of the project. Store Support Assist with Inside Sales responsibilities during customer traffic and staffing needs. Participate in the Saturday rotation. Support front counter operations as needed. Continue developing product knowledge through vendor and company training. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree or equivalent, or a minimum of two years' related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience selling building materials is highly preferred as is some field experience in construction. Knowledge of database, design, inventory software programs and order processing systems is preferred. A valid driver's license is required. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee works in an environment where the noise level is usually quiet. They are occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions (heat, humidity, rain, snow, ice, wind, etc.). The employee will be required to wear OSHA-approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, safety-toed footwear, safety vest, and hard hats, as required.
