Job Description
•Project Estimator / Manufacturing Estimator•We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Estimator / Manufacturing Estimator to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an individual with experience in machining, manufacturing, production planning, manufacturing engineering, or estimating who understands how parts are made and can accurately evaluate costs, timelines, and production requirements. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing competitive quotations, evaluating manufacturing processes, supporting project execution, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. ResponsibilitiesEstimating & Quoting Review customer drawings, specifications, RFQs, and project requirements. Develop accurate cost estimates for machined components, assemblies, and production projects. Evaluate material costs, machine time, labor requirements, tooling, and outsourced services. Prepare detailed quotes, proposals, and supporting documentation. Analyze tolerances, surface finishes, quality requirements, and manufacturing complexity. Collaborate with customers and internal teams to clarify project requirements. Manufacturing & Production Analysis Determine manufacturing methods, routing sequences, setup requirements, and cycle times. Assess machine capabilities, production capacity, tooling requirements, and labor needs. Partner with production, engineering, quality, and purchasing teams to identify efficient manufacturing solutions. Recommend process improvements and cost-saving opportunities that improve competitiveness and profitability. Support new product introductions and manufacturing feasibility reviews. Supplier & Cost Management Obtain and evaluate quotes for raw materials, tooling, outsourced processes, and purchased components. Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors. Assess supplier capabilities, quality performance, and reliability. Monitor material pricing and market trends that may impact project costs and lead times. Risk Assessment & Continuous Improvement Identify risks related to manufacturing processes, quality requirements, production timelines, and supply chain constraints. Recommend alternative manufacturing approaches, materials, or sourcing strategies when appropriate. Support project handoff to production by ensuring estimate assumptions and requirements are clearly communicated. Maintain estimating standards and utilize historical production data to improve quote accuracy. Participate in continuous improvement efforts that enhance efficiency, quality, and profitability. Qualifications Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, technical certification, or equivalent industry experience preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing, machining, production planning, manufacturing engineering, estimating, or a related field preferred. Strong understanding of CNC machining, manufacturing processes, tooling, materials, and production workflows. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Experience evaluating labor content, machine rates, setup requirements, and production costs. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP/MRP systems. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a machine shop, CNC programming, manufacturing engineering, production supervision, or production planning role. Knowledge of GD&T and machining best practices. Experience quoting high-mix, low-volume manufacturing or production machining projects. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. Why Join Us?
