- Job Title: Flooring Installation Technician - Entry Level
- Job Description
- The Flooring Installation Technician installs and finishes a wide range of flooring and tile products in residential and commercial settings. This role involves preparing surfaces, accurately measuring and cutting materials, completing custom tile projects, and ensuring all work meets high quality standards and customer expectations while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
- Responsibilities
- + Install a variety of flooring materials, including ceramic and porcelain tile, luxury vinyl plank (LVP), vinyl flooring, laminate flooring, hardwood flooring, carpet tile, and other specialty flooring products.
+ Measure, cut, and fit flooring materials accurately to meet project specifications and layouts.
+ Prepare surfaces by removing old flooring, leveling subfloors, and performing necessary repairs to ensure proper installation.
+ Install tile backsplashes, shower surrounds, and other custom tile projects as needed.
+ Read and interpret project specifications, drawings, and layouts to complete work according to requirements.
+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times on job sites.
+ Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites.
+ Communicate professionally with homeowners, contractors, and team members to coordinate work and address questions.
+ Ensure all work meets company quality standards and aligns with customer expectations.
+ Use hand trowels and other basic hand tools effectively during installation tasks.
+ Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to site safety rules.
+ Collaborate with crew members in teams of 25 laborers to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.
- Essential Skills
- + At least 6 months of construction experience.
+ Basic experience with ceramic tile laying and carpet installation, with carpet and ceramic installation experience preferred but not required.
+ Ability to install multiple flooring types, including ceramic and porcelain tile, luxury vinyl plank (LVP), vinyl, laminate, hardwood, and carpet tile.
+ Proficiency in measuring, cutting, and fitting flooring materials accurately.
+ Experience using a hand trowel in flooring or tile applications.
+ Valid drivers license.
+ Ability to meet motor vehicle record (MVR) standards as required for driving responsibilities.
+ Ability to pass required screenings, including DT, BG, and MVR checks.
+ Ability to read and interpret project specifications and layouts.
+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
+ Effective communication skills for interacting with homeowners, contractors, and team members.
+ Capability to work safely and maintain a clean, organized job site.
- Additional Skills & Qualifications
- + Prior carpet installation experience is preferred.
+ Prior ceramic tile installation experience is preferred.
+ General construction experience is beneficial for understanding job site practices.
+ Willingness to eventually purchase and use a personal tile cutter as part of the role.
+ Ability to work effectively in small crews of 25 installers.
+ Reliability in transporting oneself and tools to various job sites.
+ Strong work ethic and willingness to learn additional flooring and tile techniques over time.

- Work Environment
- The work is performed on active construction and renovation job sites as part of crews typically consisting of 25 laborers.
The environment requires consistent use of safety equipment, including steel or composite toe boots or shoes, hard hat, safety glasses, and high-visibility clothing. Technicians must bring and use basic hand tools such as a tool pouch, hammer, screwdrivers, and tape measure, and will eventually be required to purchase their own tile cutter. The company provides knee pads to support comfort during flooring and tile installation tasks. Work involves physical activity, handling materials, and operating tools in varied site conditions while adhering to safety standards and dress code requirements appropriate for construction settings.

- Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $18.
00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
