We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Apprentice Hardwood Flooring Installer to join our team. This entry-level position is ideal for someone interested in learning a skilled trade and building a career in hardwood flooring installation. You will work alongside experienced installers and receive hands-on training in the installation of prefinished and unfinished hardwood flooring. Projects include residential new construction and existing homes. No extensive flooring experience is required, but candidates should be willing to learn, follow instructions, work safely, and take pride in delivering quality results. Responsibilities Assist with the installation of hardwood flooring using cleat, glue-assist, and full-spread methods. Help remove existing flooring while protecting walls, trim, cabinets, and surrounding surfaces. Prepare subfloors through cleaning, sanding, grinding, patching, leveling, and minor repairs. Learn how moisture conditions affect hardwood flooring and installation. Measure, mark, and cut flooring materials accurately under supervision. Assist with installing plywood underlayment using the proper nailing schedule and joint preparation. Help maintain proper flooring alignment and secure installation. Assist with installing vents, baseboards, shoe molding, and transitions. Learn basic board repairs and lace-in techniques. Safely operate hand tools and flooring equipment after receiving proper training. Communicate professionally with installers, sales associates, project managers, operations managers, homeowners, and other trades. Work collaboratively with the installation team to complete projects on schedule. Keep tools, materials, vehicles, and job sites clean and organized. Follow all company and job-site safety procedures. Qualifications No previous hardwood flooring experience is required; construction, carpentry, or flooring experience is a plus. Strong willingness to learn and develop new skills. Dependable, punctual, and able to follow instructions. Careful attention to detail and respect for customers' homes and property. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic familiarity with hand and power tools is preferred. Good communication and problem-solving skills. Commitment to safe work practices. Ability to perform physical construction work, including standing, kneeling, bending, lifting, and carrying materials for extended periods. Willingness to work in residential new construction and occupied homes.
