Full Job Description Floor Installer Job Summary:
Responsible for installing a wide range of floor coverings in residential, commercial, and industrial settings such as homes, offices, restaurants, and factories. Works with materials including hardwood, laminate, vinyl, linoleum, cork, rubber, carpet, ceramic tile, and cement to create durable and visually appealing surfaces.
Primary Responsibilities:
Inspect and prepare subfloors to ensure proper installation conditions. Measure areas and estimate materials required for each project. Consult with architects, contractors, or homeowners to determine appropriate materials, designs, and layouts. Repair and correct subfloor issues, including leveling uneven surfaces and replacing rotted wood. Sweep, scrape, sand, or chip away debris and irregularities; fill cracks using putty, plaster, or cement grout to create a smooth foundation. Cut and shape flooring materials to fit installation areas. Install hardwood flooring, including fastening, gluing, sanding, and finishing as required. Apply adhesives and install materials such as vinyl, laminate, tile, or carpet. Install moisture barriers such as polyethylene film and underlayment for sound reduction and insulation. Ensure all flooring is properly aligned, secure, and free of gaps or defects. Clean up excess adhesives and job site debris. Inspect completed work and replace any defective materials. Supervise and guide flooring assistants or apprentices. Collaborate with carpenters, engineers, and other trades to meet project specifications.
