POSITION SUMMARY
Classic Flooring Solutions is seeking an experienced Hardwood Flooring Sanding & Finishing Technician / Installer to join our professional flooring team. We are looking for a true hardwood flooring craftsman who takes pride in his or her work and understands that quality flooring is more than simply operating a sander or installing boards. The right candidate will have strong technical skills, attention to detail, good judgment, and the ability to complete projects to a high professional standard with minimal supervision. This position is ideal for an experienced flooring professional who wants to work for a company that values craftsmanship, reliability, professionalism, and quality workmanship . Our projects include residential and high-end custom work, hardwood installation, sanding and finishing, repairs, specialty layouts, stairs, borders, herringbone, and other detailed flooring applications. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESHardwood Floor Sanding & Refinishing Operate professional hardwood flooring sanding equipment safely and effectively. Perform complete sanding and refinishing processes from start to finish. Properly prepare floors for staining, sealing, and finishing. Identify and address scratches, gouges, cupping, crowning, uneven areas, and other flooring imperfections. Perform edging, detail sanding, screening, buffing, and final preparation. Maintain consistent sanding patterns and produce a smooth, professional finished surface. Properly apply stains, sealers, finishes, and coatings according to manufacturer specifications. Recognize wood species and understand how different woods react to sanding, staining, and finishing. Perform repairs and blend existing flooring into new or repaired areas when possible. Maintain clean, organized, and professional jobsites throughout the project. Hardwood Flooring Installation Install solid and engineered hardwood flooring using appropriate installation methods. Perform nail-down, glue-down, and other approved installation techniques. Install standard and specialty flooring patterns, including: Straight lay Random-width flooring Herringbone Chevron Borders Inlays Custom patterns Properly layout flooring before installation. Identify and account for transitions, doorways, cabinets, fireplaces, stairs, vents, and other obstacles. Perform accurate cuts and detailed fitting. Install reducers, thresholds, transitions, base shoe, quarter round, and other finish materials. Inspect completed installations for quality and address deficiencies before leaving the jobsite. Jobsite & Customer Responsibilities Protect walls, cabinets, furniture, finished surfaces, and other areas of the customer's property. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Communicate professionally with homeowners, builders, general contractors, and other trades. site conditions, potential problems, material shortages, or changes in scope to management. Follow company procedures for job documentation, photographs, material handling, and completion. Represent Classic Flooring Solutions professionally at all times.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The ideal candidate is a career flooring professional , not someone simply looking for a job. You should be able to look at a hardwood floor and understand: What the floor needs before you begin. How the floor should be sanded. What problems may exist underneath the finish. How different wood species will react. How to achieve proper stain and finish results. How to identify installation problems before they become expensive repairs. How to produce a finished product that you are proud to put your name on. Required Qualifications Proven professional experience in hardwood flooring installation, sanding, and finishing. Strong understanding of hardwood flooring installation methods. Experience operating professional sanding equipment. Ability to perform detail work and repairs. Ability to read and follow installation and finishing specifications. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field. Reliable transportation and ability to travel to job sites. Ability to safely lift and move flooring materials and equipment. Valid driver's license preferred/required based on company policy. Ability to work professionally around customers and other contractors.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Candidates with experience in the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply: Hardwood sanding and refinishing Oil-based and water-based finishes Staining and color matching Hardwood repairs Solid hardwood installation Engineered hardwood installation Herringbone installation Chevron installation Borders and inlays Custom hardwood patterns Stair installation and refinishing Floor transitions Commercial and high-end residential flooring Troubleshooting difficult flooring conditions
COMPENSATION
$25.00-$35.00 PER HOUR Compensation will be based on demonstrated experience, craftsmanship, technical ability, productivity, reliability, and ability to work independently. Experienced craftsmen who can independently manage sanding, finishing, installation, repairs, and specialty flooring work can qualify for the top end of the pay range.
