Surface Prep Technician - Epoxy Flooring
Job Description
We are seeking a dependable and driven Surface Prep Technician to assist with industrial and commercial flooring assignments across the Philadelphia region. Your primary focus will involve preparing concrete surfaces, grinding, and installing various industrial coatings and epoxy systems . We are looking for individuals with a background in flooring, construction, concrete work, or similar trades who are proficient with power tools, hand tools, and specialized floor prep machinery. While a background in concrete polishing, epoxy installation, or industrial flooring is highly valued, we are also open to applicants who possess a solid foundation in general construction or related trade fields. Core Responsibilities Execute grinding and preparation tasks on concrete substrates to ready them for coating applications Eliminate surface irregularities, ridges, high spots, and legacy coatings to improve overall floor quality Utilize various power and hand tools for cutting, drilling, and grinding concrete surfaces Ensure concrete is thoroughly cleaned to promote superior adhesion of floor materials Conduct necessary repairs on joints, cracks, and surface defects Combine and install multi-part flooring systems in accordance with project requirements Level, spread, and finish flooring materials to achieve a smooth, professional result Clean and treat concrete using designated chemical agents and methods Support the installation of resinous flooring, epoxy, and other industrial coatings Manage dust control and industrial vacuum systems during the preparation process Transport, load, and unload necessary materials and equipment Help maintain a clean and safe work environment for the entire team Adhere to directives provided by project leads and supervisors Comply with all company and OSHA safety protocols Maintain a constant focus on safe work practices to protect yourself and your colleagues Required Qualifications Prior experience in surface prep, concrete polishing, epoxy flooring, or related construction trades is preferred Demonstrated comfort and proficiency with power and hand tools Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, such as kneeling, bending, lifting, and standing for long durations Capacity to operate effectively within industrial and commercial settings Dependable transportation for travel to various job sites Consistent attendance and a strong sense of reliability Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and follow detailed instructions Eagerness to acquire new skills regarding installation techniques, materials, and equipment Compensation for this role ranges from $20 to $24 per hour, with potential for prevailing wage earnings on specific projects. This is a first-shift, contract-to-hire role. Physical and Operational Expectations This role is physically active and requires employees to remain on their feet while performing manual labor throughout the day. You will be expected to lift equipment, handle power tools, and work in environments that involve construction noise and dust. Reliable transportation is mandatory, and all candidates must successfully complete a background check and drug screening prior to employment.
