Primarily weekdays, with occasional nights, weekends and overtime based on project schedules Shawn Ashmore LLC is hiring a commercial flooring installer or experienced flooring helper to join a small, production-focused crew. This position does not require someone who already knows every aspect of commercial flooring. We are willing to train the right person beyond their current skill level. However, this is not a completely entry-level construction position. Applicants should have some commercial flooring experience, understand basic jobsite expectations and be comfortable working with flooring tools or able to learn them quickly. The right person will be dependable, physically capable, willing to learn and proud of the work they produce. Because we operate with a small crew, every employee must stay productive, recognize what needs to be done and contribute without needing to be constantly pushed or supervised. Job Responsibilities Sweep, scrape, sand, vacuum and prepare floors for installation Load, unload, carry and stage flooring materials, tools and equipment Remove scraps, packaging and jobsite debris Assist with carpet tile, glue-down LVT, VCT, rubber base, sheet flooring and other commercial flooring products Spread adhesive using the proper flooring trowel Measure and cut flooring materials accurately with a flooring knife Keep installers supplied with materials so production continues without unnecessary delays Protect completed flooring and maintain a clean, organized jobsite Follow jobsite safety rules, installation instructions and manufacturer requirements Learn additional flooring skills and accept instruction and correction professionally Required Qualifications Some commercial flooring experience Reliable attendance and punctuality Reliable transportation to changing jobsites throughout the Wasatch Front Ability to maintain a steady and productive work pace throughout the shift Ability to safely use a flooring knife and trowel, or demonstrate the ability to learn quickly Ability to read a tape measure and follow basic measurements and layout instructions Ability to regularly kneel, bend, stand, lift and carry flooring materials and tools Ability to understand and communicate spoken English clearly enough to follow safety instructions, measurements and work assignments and to coordinate with the crew and contractors Willingness to work occasional nights, weekends and overtime when projects require it Legal authorization to work in the United States and ability to complete the required Form I-9 process Preferred Experience Experience with one or more of the following is preferred: Carpet tile Glue-down LVT or LVP VCT or SVT Rubber base Sheet vinyl Commercial floor preparation Adhesive application Floor scraping, sanding, patching or grinding You do not need to know every flooring system listed above. We are looking for someone who already has a basic commercial flooring foundation and wants to become more skilled, productive and valuable.
