Position Overview RMD Luxury Window Treatments is a custom workroom and installation team serving homeowners and interior designers across Maryland, Washington D.C., and Northern Virginia. Custom drapery, roman shades, motorized shading systems, and upholstered soft goods make up the daily work. The Lead Installation Manager owns the technical and physical execution of every project after it leaves the workroom. Precision measurement, structural mounting decisions, motorization setup, and field problem solving fall under this role. Candidates should treat window treatment installation as a craft, not a task list. Every wall, window, and ceiling condition is different, and the right person here reads a space, anticipates what will go wrong, and solves it before it becomes a callback. Key Responsibilities Installation and Technical Execution Custom drapery, roman shades, cellular shades, shutters, and hardware get mounted, leveled, and finished to a standard that holds up in high end residential homes. Motorized systems, including Hunter Douglas PowerView and Somfy, require setup, pairing, and troubleshooting knowledge. Measurement and Site Assessment Windows get measured on site with an eye for framing irregularities, mounting surface conditions, and structural limitations that affect the final install. Judgment calls on mounting method and hardware selection happen in the field, not just from a spec sheet. Problem Solving Plaster walls crack. Headers sit where they shouldn't. Motors don't pair on the first try. This role troubleshoots those moments on site and finds a solution that keeps the project moving without compromising the finished look. Team Leadership Installation crews get led day to day, with job flow, sequencing, and quality managed across multiple sites. A junior installer currently in a probationary period reports into this role and benefits from hands on mentorship in technique and client presence. Quality Control Every installation gets inspected against RMD's standards before a job is called complete. Function, alignment, and finish all matter equally. Client Interaction Homeowners and designers are present during many installs. Professionalism, clear communication, and respect for the client's home are part of the job, not separate from it. Documentation and Coordination Job notes, measurements, and client signoffs get completed accurately and on time. Sales, design, and office teams rely on this information to keep projects moving through Asana and Dropbox. Tool and Equipment Management Tools, ladders, and installation equipment stay maintained and ready. RMD provides the tools, the standard is that they get treated like it. Qualifications Experience Three to five years in window treatment installation, finish carpentry, cabinetry, or comparable home improvement trade work. Motorized shading experience is a strong plus. Technical Ability Comfort with drills, levels, mounting hardware, anchors, and structural assessment across plaster, drywall, tile, and unusual mounting surfaces. Problem Solving Under Pressure Ability to diagnose an installation issue on site and resolve it without derailing the schedule or the finished result. Leadership Experience leading or mentoring an installation crew is preferred. This role sets the tone for how the team works, not just what gets installed. Detail and Presentation Strong attention to precision, along with a clean and professional presence in client homes. Communication Clear, direct communication with clients, crew members, and the office team. Verbal conversations on anything sensitive get followed up in writing. License Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
