Job Description

You've spent years learning the glass business. You know how to identify the right product, measure a window correctly, understand what it takes to install it, and recognize problems before they become expensive mistakes. What if you could put that experience to work without spending every day doing installations? Glass Doctor of Charleston is looking for an experienced glass professional to meet with customers, evaluate their glass needs, measure jobs, prepare estimates and help customers choose the right solution. You don't need to be a professional salesperson. You need to know glass, communicate well with customers, and be willing to learn our sales process. We provide the appointments. You're not knocking on doors or spending your day cold calling. You'll meet customers who have already contacted us because they need glass work. If you can look at it, understand it, measure it, price it, explain it and sell it , we'd like to talk to you. That's the candidate I'd go after. In fact, I'd probably remove most uses of the word "sales" from the first half of the ad. We don't want to hide that they're expected to close work—that needs to be crystal clear before they apply—but we also don't want the word sales to prevent an experienced glass technician from ever opening the ad. And I like "Ready for the Next Step?" because you're giving an experienced installer a legitimate career progression: You've learned the trade. Now use that knowledge to diagnose, measure, price and sell instead of physically installing every job. That is a much more compelling recruiting pitch for the person I think you're actually looking for. OK make it ad ready so I can create a new ad. Yes. I'd make this ready to paste directly into Paradox , and I'd write it to catch the experienced glass technician first—not someone searching for a sales job. Experienced Glass Technician - Ready for the Next Step? You know glass. Now put that experience to work in a different way. If you've spent years in the glass business, you know there's a lot more to the job than taking measurements. You know how to look at a broken or fogged window and determine what it needs. You understand insulated glass, tempered glass, Low-E, mirrors, showers and different types of glazing. You know what makes an installation easy—and what can turn one into a problem. Glass Doctor of Charleston is looking for an experienced glass professional who is ready to use that knowledge without spending every day installing glass. You'll meet with customers who have already contacted us for glass service, determine what they need, accurately measure the job, prepare the estimate, explain the solution and help the customer move forward with the work. This is not a cold-calling or door-to-door sales position. We provide the appointments. You don't need to be a professional salesperson. You need to know glass, communicate well with customers, pay attention to details and be willing to learn our sales process. What You'll Do As part of our Glass Doctor team, you will: Meet with residential and commercial customers at scheduled appointments. Inspect broken, damaged, fogged or outdated glass and determine the proper solution. Accurately measure windows, insulated glass units, mirrors, shower enclosures and other glass products. Identify the correct glass and specifications needed for each job. Evaluate the complete job, including access, labor, installation difficulty, equipment and materials required. Prepare accurate estimates using our ServiceTitan system. Clearly explain the recommended solution and pricing to the customer. Present options when appropriate and ask the customer for the business. Collect deposits on sold work when required. Complete accurate measure sheets, photos, job descriptions and notes so our installation team has everything needed to complete the job correctly. Follow up with customers on outstanding estimates. Communicate with our office and installation team when something unusual needs attention. Stop and ask when you're unsure rather than guess. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who already understands the glass business. Previous glass industry experience is strongly preferred. Experience with any combination of the following is valuable: Residential glass repair and replacement Insulated glass units Window and patio door glass Tempered and laminated glass Low-E glass Mirrors Shower enclosures Commercial/storefront glass You should also: Be comfortable talking with homeowners and business customers. Have strong attention to detail. Be able to accurately measure and document a job. Be comfortable using a tablet or computer and willing to learn ServiceTitan. Be dependable and able to manage your daily schedule. Have a professional appearance and attitude. Have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Be willing to ask questions when you don't know the answer. You May Be Exactly Who We're Looking For If... You've been installing glass for years and you're ready for something different. Maybe you still enjoy the glass business but don't want to spend the rest of your career carrying heavy units, climbing ladders and doing installations every day. Your experience has value. Instead of doing the installation yourself, you'll use that experience to diagnose the job, measure it correctly, determine what it takes to complete it, explain it to the customer and get the job sold. We'll teach you our systems and our sales process. We can't teach years of glass experience overnight. This Position Probably Isn't For You If... You don't have an interest in learning the technical side of the glass business. You regularly guess when you aren't sure about a product or specification. You don't like dealing directly with customers. You believe measurements, job descriptions and documentation are someone else's responsibility. You don't double-check your work. You aren't comfortable discussing price and asking a customer to move forward with the work. Mistakes happen. We understand that. What we don't want is someone guessing when they know they don't have the answer. If you're unsure, stop and ask. What We Provide Scheduled customer appointments No door-to-door prospecting No spending your day cold calling Company-provided vehicle Company-provided technology Paid training Paid time off and vacation Benefits package Bonus and incentive opportunities Established Glass Doctor brand Support from our office and installation team Opportunity to increase your income as your skills and performance grow A way to advance your career in the glass industry without spending every day installing What Success Looks Like at Glass Doctor Our process is straightforward: Measure it correctly. Describe it clearly. Check the labor. Verify the price. Document anything unusual. Review your estimate. Explain it to the customer. Ask for the business. If you can look at it, understand it, measure it, price it, explain it and sell it , we'd like to talk to you. Apply today to join Glass Doctor of Charleston.
