Construction Technician - Grand Rapids, MI $18.00-35.00 per hour Prevailing Wage Projects Competitive Company Benefits Job Description We are seeking a skilled construction technician/insulator to support residential and commercial construction projects by installing insulation, waterproofing systems, and air barriers. This role plays a critical part in improving energy efficiency, moisture control, and overall building performance. Responsibilities Install insulation materials including spray foam, fiberglass, and cellulose in walls, ceilings, attics, and foundations. Perform work on residential, commercial, and occasional prevailing wage projects including hospitals, schools, universities, stadiums, etc. Perform extensive prep work and cleanup to ready job sites for insulation and waterproofing activities. Scrape excess insulation from joists, trusses, and other structural components to ensure clean and even surfaces. Use basic hand tools such as hammers, drills, and fasteners, as well as power tools, safely and effectively. Help with general construction tasks including framing, rough carpentry, and finish work as needed. Assist with tasks related to roofing, drywall, flooring, tile, caulking, painting, and concrete work when required. Essential Skills & Qualifications 1+ years of construction experience in areas such as carpentry, concrete, insulation, or remediation work. Experience in insulation, carpentry, or concrete preferred but not required. Exposure to tasks such as caulking, painting, piping, concrete work, and commercial construction finishing. Ability to read or interpret basic blueprints or construction drawings. Experience using power tools safely and efficiently. Ability to work safely at different heights on commercial construction sites. Valid driver's license. Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work on commercial job sites that are either being renovated or built from the ground up, including hospitals, schools, universities, office buildings, and stadiums. Crews typically consist of a supervisor and 3-4 team members, creating a collaborative and supportive environment focused on teaching and development. The role involves frequent use of basic hand and power tools, as well as hoses connected to 55-gallon drums of spray foam insulation. You will be required to wear a respirator and other appropriate personal protective equipment at all times when handling insulation materials. The workday includes travel from the shop to various job locations, with occasional overnight stays depending on project needs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Traverse City, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $35.00/hr.
