Duties Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical fabrication plans to ensure accurate assembly and welding of aluminum structures. Perform welding operations using various techniques including FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards. Measure materials precisely with calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure components fit perfectly during fabrication. Use power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, and machining equipment to cut, shape, and assemble sheet metal and other metal materials for structural applications. Set up and operate cranes for lifting heavy aluminum components safely on construction sites or within fabrication shops. Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe working environment at all times. Collaborate with team members to interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and pipe threading instructions for complex assemblies such as ductwork or piping systems. Skills Extensive construction site experience with a strong understanding of safety procedures and site logistics. Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings related to metal fabrication and structural welding.
Skilled in various welding techniques:
FCAW, MIG, TIG, SMAW, with knowledge of AWS standards. Ability to operate measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math for precise fabrication work. Mechanical knowledge including the use of hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, machining equipment, and soldering tools.
