Crucial Link is hiring multiple experienced Structural Steel Fitters / Fabricators and Welder/Fitters for a well-established Birmingham-area equipment manufacturer. If you have experience with structural steel fabrication, heavy plate, MIG welding, blueprint reading, layout and fit-up, we want to talk to you. What You'll Be Doing Fit and assemble structural steel and heavy plate components Read and work from blueprints, fabrication drawings and specifications Perform layout and fit-up of fabricated steel components Measure, position and align components before welding Tack weld and MIG weld as needed during the fabrication and fitting process Use grinders, torches, saws and other standard metal fabrication equipment Check dimensions, fit and overall quality of completed work Build custom industrial equipment and larger fabricated assemblies What We're Looking For Previous experience as a Structural Steel Fitter, Plate Fitter, Steel Fabricator, Welder/Fitter or similar fabrication role Experience working with structural steel and/or heavy plate Strong blueprint reading skills Experience with layout, fabrication and fit-up MIG welding and tack welding experience Ability to accurately use tape measures and other measuring tools Ability to work independently from drawings and specifications Must have own basic tools Dependable, safety-minded and takes pride in quality work Why You'll Want to Work Here Be part of a company that cares about its people. $26-$30/hour, based on experience 1st shift Multiple openings available Full benefits including Blue Cross Blue Shield Paid time off Profit sharing Long-term, stable employment A company with a history of never laying off its workforce Established manufacturer with decades of experience Build custom industrial equipment instead of doing the same repetitive production work every day Ready to Talk If you're a fitter, fabricator or welder/fitter who can take a blueprint, lay out the job and turn raw steel into a properly fitted assembly, we want to hear from you.
