Job Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Metal Fabricator to set the technical standard for our fabrication department. In this role, you will perform and lead the fabrication of the shop's most complex metal components and assemblies according to detailed blueprints and schematics, while acting as the go-to technical resource for the rest of the fabrication team. Your expertise in welding, cutting, and assembly will help ensure the delivery of top-tier products that meet our

quality standards. This is a lead position, not a supervisory or people-management role. You will lead through hands-on skill, mentorship, and quality ownership, working alongside the Shop Floor Supervisor and other department leads. Duties Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication specifications, including complex and high-tolerance geometries. Fabricate metal components through cutting, grinding, fitting, forming, drilling, and assembly processes. Taking on the department's tightest-tolerance and highest-visibility jobs. Perform MIG and TIG welding as required at an advanced level across various metals including (but not limited to) carbon steel, stainless, and aluminum. Measure and inspect materials to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards are met. Operate fabrication equipment and shop tools safely and efficiently. Assist with layout and fit-up of fabricated assemblies. Serve as the primary technical resource on the shop floor. Troubleshooting difficult builds and helping to resolve fabrication problems as they come up. Mentor and train fabricators, sharing best practices to raise the skill level of the department. Review in-process and completed work for conformance to

standards and customer specifications ahead of formal inspection. Support job sequencing and workflow planning on the floor in coordination with the Shop Floor Supervisor. Provide first-article inspection and complex layout support for new or difficult jobs. Maintain organized workstations and shop cleanliness. Follow company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and proper PPE requirements. Collaborate with welders, machinists, laser operators, and production personnel to meet project deadlines. Identify fabrication issues and communicate concerns to the Shop Floor Supervisor promptly. Perform material handling and loading/unloading activities as needed. Support continuous improvement and shop efficiency initiatives. Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical/trade certification is a plus. Minimum 5 years of metal fabrication experience required. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Proficiency with MIG and TIG welding. Knowledge of fabrication tools, equipment, and measuring instruments. Strong understanding of shop safety practices and PPE requirements. Ability to work independently and within a team environment, including guiding the work of less experienced fabricators. Demonstrated track record of mentoring, training, or informally leading other fabricators. Proven ability to take on the shop's most complex or highest-risk jobs with minimal oversight.
