Our products are used by over 1,000 fire departments, as well as military and educational institutions across the U.S. and internationally. In addition to our training systems, we provide contract manufacturing solutions to a diverse set of industries. Since 1997, we have maintained a fast-paced, quality-driven environment where continuous improvement and problem-solving are part of everyday performance. Under the direction of the Production Lead, the Metal Fabricator will be welding and/or fabricating anything from small brackets to full assemblies. This requires knowledge of reading blueprints, solving problems, and building from scratch as well as a continuous improvement mindset and a drive to produce quality work. Responsibilities Welding & Fabrication Operations Perform MIG welding on a variety of materials. Measure, cut, and prepare raw materials for fabrication and assembly processes. Operate fabrication equipment including saws, grinders, press brakes, ironworkers, shears, cutting tools and other hand and power tools safely and efficiently. Perform grinding, finishing, and cleanup work to meet production and cosmetic standards. Meet daily production goals while maintaining high standards of workmanship and quality control. Support custom, prototype, and production manufacturing projects in a fast-paced mixed manufacturing environment. Blueprint & Technical Interpretation Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, fabrication drawings, written reference materials, and weld symbols to ensure accurate production. Retain knowledge of MIG welding procedures, ASME standards, and fabrication equipment. Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Quality Control & Inspection Self-inspect completed welds and fabricated parts for dimensional accuracy, quality, and structural integrity. Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control throughout fabrication and welding processes. Troubleshoot fabrication and welding issues and recommend process improvements. Safety & Equipment Maintenance Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety procedures and PPE requirements. Assist with equipment maintenance and report any mechanical or safety concerns promptly. Additional Requirements Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, heavy lifting and carrying. Job requires working inside and outside in environments that present occasional exposure to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, keeping your area clean and organized etc. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately. Maintain full compliance with company policies and procedures and conduct all activities in accordance with the Fireblast Guide to Business Conduct. Ability to learn through verbal and written instructions, retain knowledge to share and teach fellow team members. Support Lean and 5S initiatives. Participate in daily continuous improvement projects. Cross-train and assist in other areas of manufacturing and production as needed. Perform other related duties as required. High school diploma or equivalent. Trade school or welding certificate a plus.
