Education Requirements High school diploma or GED preferred. Vocational training, welding certification, or technical education is beneficial. Experience Requirements 3-5 years of structural steel fitting experience Must have experience reading and interpreting shop fabrication drawings Minimum 2 years of handrail and guardrail fabrication experience Experience with band saws required Pipe bender experience preferred Must pass a welding test Job Duties Read and interpret structural steel blueprints and fabrication plans Layout, fit, and assemble metal components to specification Perform accurate measurements using weld gauges, tape measures, and other tools Cut materials using torches and fabrication equipment Follow welding procedures and quality standards Operate shop power tools and hand tools safely Maintain and properly store equipment after use Assist in various production areas as needed Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in manufacturing, fabrication, structural welding, or production environments is preferred. Experience using grinders, saws, cutting equipment, and metal fabrication tools is beneficial. Knowledge of weld inspection, blueprint interpretation, and quality control procedures is considered an asset. Individuals who demonstrate craftsmanship, dependability, and a commitment to continuous improvement are well positioned for success as a Rail Fabricator. Physical Capabilities Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in welding positions throughout the shift. Ability to lift metal components, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to safely wear welding helmets, gloves, and required personal protective equipment.
