20-Jul-2026 Job Summary The Creative Labs Center (CLC) is a15,000 square foot space that serves as an academic support lab for environmental design faculty and students. It is located inside the Center for Innovation and Creativity (CINC) on the CU Boulder East Campus. Educational and research activities in the CLC are supported by a Wood Lab, a Metal Lab, Laser Cutting machines, a 3-axis and a 4-axis, a CNC router and a high-end CPU lab. Faculty and students use these resources to produce images and materials for course assignments, project prototyping and fabrication, as well as full-size production of construction elements, using both analog and digital equipment. The CLC facility also houses two classrooms, a flexible makerspace, and studio spaces. The CLC 1% on call position provides assistance to the staff of the Lab with the upkeep of the facilities and equipment to maintain functionality and safety standards. The position also provides direct supervision and support to students and faculty in the use of Lab machinery and equipment, as necessary. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be User Support and Supervision Provide guidance, support, and safety supervision to students and faculty using Center equipment. Assist students directly with fabrication methods and techniques. Lab Maintenance Support Support the upkeep of Center facilities and equipment. Supports the achievement and maintenance of safety standards for all areas of the Center. Support good inventory management of consumable and non-consumable Center assets, maintaining and updating inventory sheets as appropriate. Other Duties as Needed What You Should Know This is an On-Call position with varied needs. Monday through Friday as needed. Schedule will flex according to needs and cyclical peak periods of the academic cycle. Position may also be asked to work on short notice to cover unexpected needs. The work modality is fully in-person/onsite. What We Can Offer The pay for this position is $50.00 per hour. What We Require Two years of professional experience using fabrication tools and machinery. A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to two (2) years. What You Will Need Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities working in a complex environment. Expertise in the function and use of a wide range of fabrication tools and machinery. Experience training people on the use of fabrication tools and machinery. Knowledge of and experience practicing and enforcing appropriate and required safety standards for fabrication shops and/or professional environments using a range of tools and machinery. What We Would Like You to Have Previous experience in related environment including wood and metal fabrication. Experience supervising shop and construction spaces.
