Overview Join our dynamic construction team as an Ironworker/welder and become a vital part of building structures that stand the test of time! In this role, you will be responsible for installing, reinforcing, and assembling steel frameworks, bridges, and other large-scale metal structures. Your expertise will help shape skylines and infrastructure projects, ensuring safety, precision, and quality at every step. Responsibilities Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately assemble structural components. Use hand tools, power tools, rigging equipment, and welding machines to cut, shape, and install steel and sheet metal components. A 2G, 3G, and 4G stick welding job requires a skilled welder to use the SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) process on structural steel or heavy plate in three challenging orientations: vertical up/down, and overhead. Operate cranes, forklifts, press brake machines, plasma cutters, and other heavy machinery safely to lift and position materials. Measure materials precisely with calipers, micrometers, and shop math skills to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly. Interpret schematics and technical drawings to guide fabrication shop work and on-site assembly processes. Rigging materials securely for lifting operations while adhering to safety protocols and ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) codes & standards. Fabricate ductwork, piping, and structural components in both shop environments and on-site construction locations. Follow all safety procedures diligently to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and team members. Qualifications A 2G, 3G, and 4G stick welding job requires a skilled welder to use the SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) process on structural steel or heavy plate in three challenging orientations: vertical up/down, and overhead. Proven construction site experience with a strong background in metal fabrication or structural steel installation. Skilled in various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and welding with knowledge of AWS standards. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and mechanical schematics accurately. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, rigging equipment, calipers, micrometers, and shop math. Experience operating cranes, forklifts, plasma cutters, press brakes, and other heavy machinery safely. Knowledge of ASME codes & standards related to fabrication and construction practices. Mechanical knowledge including pipe threading, soldering, machining processes, sheet metal fabrication & assembly. Construction experience involving ductwork installation or structural steel assembly is highly preferred. Strong understanding of safety protocols related to welding (including SMAW), rigging operations, machining tools & power tools usage.
