Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structural Fitter to join our dynamic fabrication and construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and installing structural components with precision and adherence to safety standards. Your expertise will ensure that all metal structures are fabricated according to technical drawings, blueprints, and industry standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilizing your mechanical knowledge and fabrication skills to contribute to high-quality structural assemblies. Responsibilities Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to accurately assemble structural components. Measure, cut, and fit metal materials using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and measuring tapes. Operate power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, and welding equipment including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding). Fabricate metal structures by welding according to AWS (American Welding Society) standards and ASME codes & standards while maintaining quality control. Use shop math and basic math skills for accurate measurements, calculations, and assembly procedures. Assemble structural components with precision using mechanical fabrication techniques while adhering to safety protocols. Conduct inspections of completed work using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments to ensure compliance with specifications. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety procedures related to construction site activities, welding operations, and the use of power tools. Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines while ensuring high standards of craftsmanship and safety. Qualifications Proven construction site experience with a strong background in metal fabrication and structural assembly. Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and interpreting mechanical blueprints accurately. Experience operating welding equipment including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW processes in accordance with AWS standards. Skilled in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, shop math tools, and other measurement devices. Knowledge of ASME codes & standards related to metal fabrication and welding practices. Ability to operate power tools safely including grinders, drills, plasma cutters, and hand tools required for assembly tasks. Mechanical knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, machining processes, plasma cutting techniques, and assembly procedures. Familiarity with construction site safety protocols and adherence to OSHA regulations or equivalent safety standards. Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment. Basic math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations related to fabrication tasks.
