Job Description
Traveling Shear Stud and Decking Installer at Gardner-Watson Decking, Inc Build what others stand on. Join a crew trusted to install the metal decking and shear studs that anchor major steel projects nationwide. If you value precision, safety, and teamwork, this is your path. Your mission Install and secure sheet metal decking on steel structures Weld decking where needed and perform shear stud installation Operate hand, power, pneumatic, and powder-actuated tools with care Keep your tools and equipment maintained and ready Document time and attendance daily without fail Uphold OSHA, customer, and company safety standards on every task Assist with additional duties as assigned What success looks like You show up prepared, climb confidently, and work methodically—rain or shine. You communicate with your crew, double-check measurements, and finish the day with tools cleaned and reports submitted. Then, when the project wraps (often after 2-3 months), you're ready to travel to the next location and do it again. Requirements 100% nationwide travel required Ability to lift at least 75 lbs and work at heights over 40 feet Experience using hand, power, pneumatic, and powder-actuated tools Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions Strong work ethic and positive attitude Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus Preferred Certifications (Not Required but a Plus) OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Certification Welding Certification Aerial Lift Certification Schedule & Project Rotation Full-time, hourly role; daytime shift only Typical project duration: 2-3 months (some longer) Travel to a new city/state at project completion Hours may shift with site needs, seasonality, and weather Active job sites in NM, TX, VA, AZ, SC, GA, MS, AR, FL, MD, and beyond Benefits Per Diem Affordable Health insurance Dental and Vision 401K Match (6%) Holiday & Vacation/PTO pay Core Proficiencies Driver's License Industrial Construction OSHA 10-Hour Certification (OSHA 10) Construction Site Installation Warehouse Experience Material Handler Experience Bring your skills, grit, and pride in workmanship.
