In this vital role, you will be responsible for assembling, installing, and repairing structural steel frameworks and metal components on various construction sites. Your expertise in welding techniques, metal fabrication, and blueprint interpretation will ensure the safety, precision, and quality of our projects. Duties Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to accurately execute steel and metal assemblies. Perform various welding techniques including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards. Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures to ensure precise cuts and fits of sheet metal, ductwork, piping, and structural components. Operate power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and rigging equipment safely and efficiently during fabrication and installation processes. Assemble structural steel frameworks using rigging techniques, pipe threading, welding, bolting, and mechanical fastening methods. Conduct quality inspections utilizing shop math skills and mechanical knowledge to verify dimensions, weld integrity, and material specifications. Adhere strictly to safety protocols by maintaining a clean work environment, wearing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and following OSHA guidelines at all times. Experience Proven construction site experience with a focus on metal fabrication or structural steel installation. Demonstrated proficiency in welding methods including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding with certifications preferred. Familiarity with blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings related to steel structures or ductwork. Hands-on experience operating power tools such as grinders, drills, press brakes, plasma cutters, and machining equipment. Knowledge of rigging practices for lifting heavy steel components safely using cranes or forklifts. Ability to perform shop math calculations for measurements, angles, weld sizes, and material quantities accurately. Mechanical knowledge of materials such as metals used in construction projects including sheet metal fabrication and pipe threading.
